I just added a new quote to my sig. Pure gold.
I'm with Morb, if you are not willing to invest more than $150 into the sport, how can you really be taken seriously? Some of us have thousands, and others tens of thousands invested. So in reality, most of us want quality and not quantity in players. Most of us will bend over backwards to help out a new player, as long as he is willing to listen and isn't an asshat. Also, not to sound like someone we all love to hate, but you will learn far more on the field then on the forums. And as Morb pointed out, watch what you say, because one day you may have to explain yourself face to face, in the end, without the protection of your PC.

Very nicley said.
More often than not arguments get taken to personally and feelings do get hurt and its a dying shame. As long as everyone treats each other with respect all should be well, but as we all know, as human beings that will never happen, but the least we can do is try to be supportive of the idea. Very nice post Freedon Fighter.

Remember the golden rules, treat others as you would like to be treated and whom has the gold makes the rules. You'll find that makes life smoother around here.
For those of you that don't understand the gist of Freedom Fighter's post: If you treat others like shit we're going to assume you want to be treated like shit and you'll get flushed by the staff. This is not to say we're going on a witch hunt. |

I'm Not an expert or anything, but there's been a lotta new members here on ASC. Its nice to say that I've seen a lot of good new players on the field as well. In my dealings with the MODS they have been patient and firm in their positions. I have no problem shooting them on the field when I get a chance. (Ususally it's them shooting me though).
Milsim and disipline work well together, If the MODS feel its time to make the ban hammer bounce, thats fine. I'm sure you can find a way to still get the basics off the board. Cheers |

So this means your dropping the off-topic section finally?
|
|

I'm split on the idea about dropping it completely; sometimes there are heated but worthwhile discussions about non-airsoft related things that occur, but often they're ruined by uninformed shit-slinging and ego-stroking. I also think that giving airsofters a place to talk non-airsoft works towards building inclusiveness into the community as a whole.
I'd like to keep OT, but I think it should be more heavily moderated (but not by our current mods - no offence, I think you folks do a fine job but you already have more than your fair share of crap on your plate, and this isn;t needed) - perhaps it's time to instill some OT-only mods to keep the crap-pile as clean as possible. Perhaps this could be the training ground for future moderators as more people enter (and leave) the sport and the membership of this d-board continues to increase?

On the OT issue, I think the place isn't half bad. I like to hear about guys car projects, bands, interesting political stuff etc. It helps me remember the guys (and gals) here have lives, are getting married and stuff and are real human beings not just avatars with strange opinions.
In fact I post on a law board (www.lawbuzz.ca if you are curious) which is supposed to be for law students, lawyers etc and it often gets much worse than the OT section does here. I agree with Skru though, it could be better moderated and I'm sure with some targeted arm-twisting a few good mods could be recruited. LD

SHARED observations of the OT threads show that some members are exceptionally vocal in that area, while uncharacteristically silent in all other sections of the board. Like the theme of this thread suggests, what's being improved? Quality of moderation, or tough new user titles? Improvement should be a equally distributed, lateral exercise, not a top down flushing. I guess if the focus is to provide a quality product in the forums, in that it's a 'one-version of the truth' purveyor of information that connects our community, providing resource channels at all levels for all members - then perhaps it's time to really do that/convey the message accordingly. Streamline the 'seriousnessness' of it, across all verticals. Another suggestion would be to provide a glossary to common terms and words used here, to again prevent misconception. One word that begs to be defined is 'contribution'. My comments are meant as constuctive suggestions, should anyone be offended by my tone or perceived manner, feel free to PM me and i'll be glad to speak to you in person. |

There is still a lot of problems in authority with the forum , when you have well respected members of the community that actually show up to games all the time that are banned. Ie CLAY!
I probally be banned, edited or deleted for saying this.
