I just checked out the US patent office and it appears that Magpul has a pending patent application for the stock they use on the Masada. Its US Published Patent Application 2008-0236017.
It also appears that they have filed a PCT application and can enter the national phase in the near future.

They can stop someone from using that specific stock (Masada stock).
And that is the likely reason behind the threats of litigation.
However, if any of the Asian companies change a little bit to be different, then they can avoid the patent (when it issues).

Magpul likely threatened patent litigation NOT copyright litigation.
And just to clarify things.... its not yet protected anywhere.
Protection only comes after the patent is granted.
Damages, if infringement is shown, can be accrued from the date of the publication of the patent... ie October 2008.

I've been drooling over http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/magpul-ma...ark-earth.html ever since I started looking into Airsoft a couple of weeks back. And I'm curious if there has been any updates or if there are any Canadian retailers that I can get this off of. Any help would be appreciated ^^ Best of luck!

Just spent the last 19 minutes writing and re-writing a response.... None of them sounded right I can never get my point across in words... I guess I should just worry about school for now.... I just wish I could try out Airsoft or something because then I will know if waiting these next two years of my life will even be worth it.. There is no point in sacrifice for nothing... On the other note the reason I want to know some retailers is because my pops whom is a pretty damned good marksmen and all around out-doorsy guy wants to get me an Airsoft gun because I am an in-doorsy guy and my old man would love nothing more then to see me get outside and lose this Milky white exterior (And so would I) Airsoft is one of the very few things that I have been like YEA I want to go and do that instead of wasting my life away playing mindless and pointless video games... And since I'm "just a child" I get slapped in the face and told to go back to my den it's ridiculous and degrading... And all this just sounds like whiney little kid talk... Sigh... I feel like I have split personality and one of them is 100 years older then the other.... :banghead: rant rant rant.... This all just seems really immature. I'm going a million differant ways at once and I don't even know where it starts, let alone where it ends... I have a feeling this is all excessive and crap and shouldn't be here so if it's I will delete if not then my conscious can rest at ease. :s

You sir, have far more dedication then I would care to have to use... The main reason why I'm so enthralled is that you can play at 16 with consent you just cannot buy your own, but I can still get someone to buy one for me. The main downside is that my fears are making me feel like I'm creating a terrible first impression :C And I probably am... One thing I just want to say I'm not some snot nosed brat whose going to get his parents to buy him a bunch of Airsoft stuff, I'm honestly going to work for every dime I can, I hate accepting things for free I feel like I havn't earned it... So I will be collecting every dime I can to get all the Airsoft gear I can through as many LEGAL ways as possible. Any help from you guys would be appreciated but I deeply respect your position with the forum rules and the laws of Canada, however much I may dislike them...
