Some real nice 1911s in here, especially Mac's Knight Hawk!

Question: Does anyone have a source on a full-length guide rod that will fit a WE 1911?

I just got this back from Dave at Imperial Engravers! Fantastic...although if I knew the YAG was going to turn out like that, I would have went for the CNC OH WELL, should have asked first. It's a KWA M1911 MK I, had to get it stripped first and powder coated again. Came out a lot thicker so I had to sand the internals to get things to fit properly. The sand blasting must have caused a bubble to form on the grip, so you might see a little lump, which also resulted a lump forming in the inside as well. Took a long time to sand it down so the mags will go in. None the less, amazing job

The bubble could not have been formed by the stripping process. In my experience with this stuff (and with Dave's process), it was likely caused during the heating process of the re-colouring, after the powder coat was applied.

There was probably a bubble within the cast itself. When heated, the bubble expanded.

I once had Dave re-colour a cast frame for me, and the front end of it practically melted during the oven phase. :P

Hey Cav, yeah the powder coating they use is very thick like an orange peel which looks a bit ugly in my opinion. If you want that nice steel/harden look use duracoat or cerakot.. This is what I did with mine :

Picked up a KJW 1911 last month. Got some Gator grip on the frame and slide, big improvement in index points, we'll see how it holds up to a holster.

Great gun, by the way, uses the same "new" co2 system as the Les Baer customs they came out with. I might replace the sears later to remove the nearly 1cm of deadspace in the trigger before it fires. Kicks like a mule with Propane.

Oh, true that. Forgot about the paint needing to be heated to dry haha. OH WELL, the insides fixed, just the outside I'll leave alone.

@turok: The orange peel effect isnt half bad on the pistol. But if it was on a lower receiver for a rifle, I would definitely use duracoat instead of the powder coat.
