I took another look, used my brain, and I stand corrected - they merely have to "Complete courses in non-restricted and restricted firearms safety." Sorry about that last one...usually course completion and applying for the license(s) go hand in hand, so I jumped to a conclusion.

Because they have a restricted weapon hanging on their belt more often than wearing civilian chlothes? They are trained to handle them more than a RPAL would need...just sayin'

Some people get in such a tizzy over the fact that law enforcement officers might just be better qualified to handle restricted firearms than them.

You can't deny that in some cases however, law enforcement officers certainly aren't more qualified than some citizens that know their stuff...

Yeah.... I'm pretty sure they do profiling for when they decide to do "random" searches, or at least those things are part of the algorithm for deciding who to randomly search (ie. it's really a pseudorandom picking and choosing of who to search).
Random searches are random. Non-random searches are a judgment call by the officer, based on the training they get. Think about it - single male passenger, unemployed, travelling from a drug source country after being there for two weeks, has four bags, purchased ticket in cash, body language screams "nervous." That's not "profiling" in the sense of race or religion, that's "sketchy dude from a sketchy place." Not necessarily a drug smuggler, but worth a closer look. By the same token, random searches have turned up stuff on people you'd never think would be doing something illegal - that's why they're there. To be random.

OT, but I recently purchased an RC airplane kit from overseas. Total package cost came to $160 USD. CBSA decided to assess the package value at $1,008.00 CAD. My duty fees and tax was twice what I actually paid for the package. Needless to say I'm still trying to get my money back.

I was talking to a CSBA rep on the phone and she couldn't even figure out how they might have arrived at this number. The process to fix it is "fill out this paper, send us all the supporting documentation so we can't promptly shred it and claim we never got it."

The funny thing is the lady at the post office was really helpful.. as in I got the distinct impression this is a very common occurance. She wasn't even surprised at the amount they over-valued it.

It's a lady cop in the movie in the link. Maybe the guy on the ground was talking when he should of been listening or she'd gone to that US tac school where it's OK plant rounds next to folks downrange because "safety doesn't exist"?

I think the comment HKGhost made was actually directed at the video of the DEA guy in the classroom who shot himself. Not at my video.

hahahahahahah Instant Douche Retribution. LOL Sometimes I do believe there is a God.

I also like when he asks his partners to hand him another gun, and they are all like......... ah, Noooooooooo. And he's like,
"it's cool, give me the gun".
ah Noooooooo. You're done handling guns for awhile.
ROFLMAO

Regarding the original issue in the thread, I finally got the package this morning with everything inside apparently intact. Some of the individual packaging was wrecked but I don't really care.

Looks like the outer barrel catched their attention too.

So conclusion... I wasted a 30$ additionnal fee on Express and 17$ handling fee, but with some time on the phone, I got my stuff back.

As it was suggested right in the beginning, everything was solved the day after I talked to the supervisor. So if that happens to you... you know what to do!

I quoted the wrong vid. It's for the DEA one.

I'm sure you know what's allowed and not allowed to be imported Conker. Some of them are noobs and can't tell the difference between a gun and a gearbox.
