I'll definitely be using it as a dedicated race pistol. Hard not to - it's so beautiful. I may even have to swap my hammer from the gun in this thread to the new pistol.

do me a favor, tell me if the slide can fit a bushing....I really don't like a bull barrel as much...

I'm betting it won't have the groove for the bushing.

And this is for a 5.1 sized gun right? The dustcover and the slide cut is somewhat confusing in that respect...

Yep
Yep. It's an extended frame with shortened dust cover. It provides a really unique look that I can totally appreciate. |

Dustcover being....the ejection port? Or what? I've never heard of a dustcover on a pistol.

Full length mid-frames are typically referred to as "Limited" or "Extended" frames. Slides typically seen on 1911's and many 2011's have a scallop by the muzzle to lower the profile of the pistol. It lowers weight by a bit and eases holstering / drawing from tactical holsters or other fully enclosed holsters. Slides meant to fit limited / extended frames do not have the scalloping, and this type of slide is referred to as "LDC", or "Long Dust Cover" to indicate that it is a full square slide that allows full contact on the bottom portion against a full length "Limited" frame. All slides and frames can be used interchangeably, but the look is a bit awkward when the slide is scalloped but sitting in a full length frame or vice versa.

What type did you get?
|

the only one that is in stock, the egghole silver type...probably not correct for the SVI type gun, but then again this piece will be pretty bastardized from the beginning since I'll be using my Hi-Capa as base....so it'll be on TK grip too...I am actually quite curious as to how it might look like, since this frame is also a rail-frame....
I am hoping with a matching set of hammer, sear and a new frame the problem of non-functioning thumb safety will go away too... We'll see how this will go...I have a feeling I'll be replacing the controls and maybe this will turn into a race pistol... |

I'm anxious to see your build with the AS set. Take a look at this: http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1424. You should build one of those up too. lol
