and the lower of an MP5 can be (technically) imported but not the upper as that is where the trades are found.

yes upper/lower is correct. there are guns that the upper is prohib and lower is fine not every one imports AR's. so yes they are looking for upper/lower receivers the officer was dead on and there was no need for rasta to argue or tell him anything. also telling an officer how to do his job will get your order delayed/reviewed for an unknown amount of time.

I still wouldn't be comfortable with that gamble. It looks evil, so they seize it and give you hell. Laws don't apply....CBSA is fucking god.

As someone already stated, importing a gearbox is more of a display of legitimate use. Who the hell would spend hundreds on a gearbox to put in a gun to rob a corner store? And if you just want to do drive bys and shoot stuff like an idiot, pellet guns are more powerful, accurate and cheaper annnnd easier to get.

They seriously need to develope a licence or something.... Yeah yeah, I know, then they'd tax the fuck out of it. Which is ridiculous as the number of airsofters in Canada is like what? Just barely over the 4 figure mark? If that....

Considering that the Prohibited Importations Unit officer acted to ensure that this wouldn't happen with the particular screener again, I think you need to find something better to do than demonize all of CBSA. Someone made a mistake, and that mistake was corrected in our favour. All this was done through communicating with CBSA personnel like they're people, not monsters.

Airsoft parts represent a tiny fraction of the type of items screened coming across the border. You're asking for everyone at the CBSA to be equally qualified, right off the bat, with devices that some might never, ever come across? A service with zero margin for error? Who are you kidding?

well airsoft parts represent a large fraction of the type of items I receive in the mail, so I think it is my right to expect that the people handling my shit do their job properly

I can second this. The CBSA officer who cleared my order was both knowledgable and helpful. I still take issue with the policy on airsoft but not the professional trying to do his job.

CBSA officers are generally nice people and do try to be helpful. But the shxt storms start when they have mis-communications going on and are too busy to reply your calls / emails. If you have the option to, show up at their office and demand to meet the officer dealing in your case. That always worked for me.

Ever since the change from "Customs" to "CBSA" their customer service level has increased dramatically. That's what I found.
