I suppose if the bolt's were switched out and the lower receiver but you'd still have to change the barrel as well. Then you'd only have a pistol grip and butt stock. For that, you could buy a new AR.

Is anyone else dying to hear how "minimal work" is defined by the ATF?

FWIW, the airsoft store owner should file a FOIA request immediately and seek a court injuction preventing the destruction of his shipment while its status is being contested. Failing that, at least take the ATF to court for damages should the FOIA request show the 'modifications' to be bogus or way beyond what's considered reasonable -- ie. having to replace everything but the pistol grip before it will chamber and fire a round. So much for just enforcing the laws as is their ONLY mandate, now the civil-servants of the ATF instead of elected officials are making up new ones as they go along. Sound familiar anyone...? 'Fly

Yes... in the right hands it could potentialy be turned into a Machine Gun. All you would have to do is replace every piece of the gun with a piece from a real gun... Infact it wouldnt be easy... it would well you know... you would build a gun from scratch.

Are you talking about some sort of "bump firing" modification using a rubber band? Cause technically it doesn't make it full auto since you're pulling the trigger every time a bullet is fired. Or at least that's what I understand from the things I've read.

ROFL. ATF agent must have been a pencil pusher or something signs papers and doesn't even think. The owner should have explained better though. He had a tv interview, he should have said "why" its impossible to fire a real live round, he should have pointed out that real steel guns are steel and that WE m4 is pot metal/alu. Its his word against the ATF agent he should have given reasons and facts.
