BMW (more expensive, but less maintenance), or an apartment v.s. a town house v.s. a single house, or location of your residency, suburb or downtown, unless you have the budget?
on the family budget analogy - I would spend the money to get a safe and reliable car because I value the safety of my family. I wouldn't spend it on stuff like a luxury car. Luxury car being things like the "Land Warrior" wastage.

Do you remember all the jamming problems they used to have with them? lol
So they upgraded those and they're fine now, but HMG's excluded, remember the M60? lol

They already admitted they can't make machineguns, no need to embarrass themselves further
Because we are capitalists.

BTW, it wouldn't be the first.
M249s and M16s are made by FN.

Technically it's the C7
Actually I heard Canada makes most of the parts that go into "American made" M16s

Unfortunately, not all AR's are built the same. They range from outstanding (AR's by Diemaco, Colt, LMT, Stag, Rock River Arms are pretty much to go) to downright awful, ie. homebuilt Frankenguns built from a dogs breakfast of out-of-spec parts by Joe Shmoe down at the local gun shop to AR's that the owner fucked with because of something he read on the internet. Bushmaster's had a spotty reputation as of late. I'm ditching mine and getting a Stag.

Lastly, the AR's are popular because of its unmatched record of killing bearded hajis.

I did have a 9mm Bushmaster carbine at one point, even it needed obscene amounts of maintenance. Getting back to airsoft versions of the guns my main problem with them is the ergonomics. I'm a fairly small guy and no matter what I can't find a comfortable position for the crane stock and god help me if I was to field a full sized M16. I find the weight balance to be far too front heavy (more so than a G36) and difficult to aim quickly. AR's seem to be made for much larger shooters than myself. For me it's difficult to say why people like them so much as all that AR's have given me is grief. But for it's flaws I can say it is a successful rifle and it'll be around for a long time to come.

Man I'm going to have to adjust quick when I join the CF.
dude...i doubt the AR15 you got at your shop for repairs were from the Manufacturer. they usually have a little "quality control", and from what i've read, lots of guys build their own AR's, they get a lower receiver from there, an upper from some guy, a barrel from another guy, a buffer and buffer spring from another place even god hasnt ever heard of.

some guys assemble their AR's from pieces they bought off from a forum exchange and trade, etc... dont expect them to be reliable.

I have a Bushmaster, 16" barrel, i have NEVER had a jam, or a failure to feed with it. half the problems with AR15's are magazine related.

which companies made the AR's you had in your shop? what were they in for?

If you have a Bushmaster, check to see that your gas key is properly staked. Mine wasn't.

An improperly staked gas key will eventually work itself loose and the rifle will go from semi-auto to single-shot. Not good especially when you're going through high round counts in a single day like a tac-rifle class for example.

Properly staked on the left, improperly staked on the right.

You might want to check that the buttstock retention nut is staked properly as well.

Why should you have to check anything even if it's shooting well? It's called preventative maintenance.

Fuck, here we go again.

Bandwagon behavior makes me fucking angry...Once again, unless you have actually fired BOTH real-steel variants, you have no opinion.

All you can say is that one looks better than the other, whichever one that may be. Because unless you've slammed the bolt home and thrown some live rounds down range with BOTH of these firearms, you're hardly in any position to make a comparisson.

Because believe it or not, some of us player do this thing called "role playing" in which we copy the army of a specific country as closely as possible. Well guess what? ITS NOT ISSUED TO ANYONE!!!
And having airsoft manufacturers produce only the superior weapons makes no sense what so ever, they only produce the popular weapons and guess what? Not everyone likes the look of the HK416! :O Because in airsoft it's all the same shit, .50, 7.62x39, 5.56x45, in airsoft its all 6mm (and to a lesser extent, 8mm)
