Who has created their own silent piston?
I was wondering if anyone had modded a piston head or cylinder head to quiet it a bit more?
I have a TM M14 and I know by reducing some cylinder volume you can reduce some fps. I was thinking and still am thinking of adding a ring of neoprene on the cylinder head to soften the impact and slightly reduce fps. As my M14 is at 405fps and local limit is now back down to 400fps. Its only on Semi but I found a site that sells the fire selector switch. So if you did any mods please let me know of the details.. I know there is a mod called the Air Break Mod Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Silence is more than just a piston head.
Right now I'm making a tuner G36, which I'm tuning to be completely silent.. Go to an RC shop, get your motor balanced, It'll use less power and have less of a whining noise. Helical gears are a must... If you have the cash, an Angel Silent Piston Head is a bloody godsend. If not, try the Air Break.. Airbreaks greatly degrade with rapid fire... But if you're using it in semi, you should be fine. Talk to Thundercactus, He's done this. |

Yep, foam/neoprene on the piston head doesn't make a difference. If anything it just makes your piston wear out faster.

My M14 is quiet enough already.. a small layer will decrease air volume in the cylinder and make the slap of the piston more of a thud.. of which the Gemtech silencer almost makes that noise completely gone.

i have designed a new piston head that is compleaty silent, and almost compleatly stops the piston from smacking into the cylender head(great for V2 gearboxes).
i have installed them on my G&G UMP and VFC HK416(prowin 8mm split gearbox installed), and the only thing you can hear from both is the motor. it doesnt change the volume inside the cylender like the Angel Silent Piston Head, and it can be used in full auto. its compleatly silent when the gun is dry fired, yet you get a nice crisp pop as BBs leave the barrel. once i get my finaces worked out i may make a batch for public testing.

Well this is for a Ver.7 TM M14.. I want to just reduce the volume enough int he cylinder to lower it by 5-10fps. if it gets quiter cool. Mind you the TM M14 is already quiet.

Hazard, just port the cylinder a bit to drop it by a few fps (drill holes closer to the back then file forward to 'tune'.) Might work for what you are looking to do (drop fps, NOT make it quieter........ it is quite enough, but because his gun shoots around 406fps, he wants it field legal, and since i told him silent piston heads tend to drop the fps a bit.......)

air break will be quite a bit harder to make for v7 as it has an offset nozzle like the p90/thompson. also you can't use the systema or angel head sets, you'll need to figure something else out.

WOW this is old, For the record that G36 never worked out. I had purchased a JG G36 to start as a base, and it was way too off-spec to work properly with any of the higher end upgrades... There's a BIG reason why I suggest name-brand guns.
