GBB Teflon Tape Modification

I've heard of this modification done before, and then I searched the Internet and found THIS. Does anybody know if this works? I'm using a firefly hop up rubber and I'm wondering if doing this would enhance performance. I just finished doing the same to my hop up, but I don't have a chrony to test it out. I'm not looking for a ridiculous OMGZZZ 1500 FPS, just a few, but obviously the more the better. Has anybody tried this?

I also have one more question regarding the fitment of everything once you put the teflon taped hop up rubber and inner barrel back into the hop up chamber. I can't seem to get the two halves to touch (clamp completely) at the top and I want to know if that's okay. The small gap is not large, perhaps about a millimeter. I have tried to make the gap smaller by stretching just enough tape around the barrel and rubber to make a tight seal, but the gap is still there.

My big concern is that having that gap will affect the gun's performance, or possibly damage something in the long run.

Any help and, or opinions are graciously accepted!

It's an old trick to do on sniper rifles and some AEGs. Won't damage anything, but you might find the hop up/inner barrel difficult to reinstall due to the added bulk of the tape. Trail and error really, but it only works once. If you take it apart in the future, you'll have to apply new tape.

Quite common thing to do. It sometimes help if the rubber doesn't seal properly. It will have no effect if the rubber is doing its job correctly however.

How would you know if your rubber seal is or isn't doing its job? Chrony before and after applying the tape?

Pretty much. Or if you notice rather inconsistent FPS from shot to shot. Then you know it might need this mod.
