ICS Galil magazine issue

So the issue isn't completely new to the airsoft world, but perhaps you guys can help me out here.

The magazine on the ICS Galil is sitting too low. This causes the magazine to not feed as the AEG cannot engage the magazine properly. When I apply pressure towards myself there's about a 3mm space from the tooth of the magazine to the lever that locks the magazine in and feeds bb's.

I'm curious if there's any remedies out there for such an issue that are more permanent than my temporary fix.
It does this with both mags provided.

Any help out there in airsoftland?

This happens with some AKs too, since the mag catch design is exactly the same.

One way is to cement/epoxy extra materials at the bottom of the mag catch prong on the Magazine, which will give more material to fill the "space

So it's one of the new "SafeSoft" guns? If so, return it or get a refund/discount. They're supposed to stand by their guns with warranty etc. Unless this is going to happen to every ICS Galil, which really sucks.

I tried this with a few materials without much success... then again, maybe that mighty putty was "outdated." I'll continue experimentation I suppose.

Returning the AEG would be a hassle, so I'm open to other suggestions!

You can only do 2 things:

Add a layer of something on all your mags
Have a machinist (or your steady hand + dremel) make a new mag catch that will sit the mags higher.

We have sold a few of these to guys i know with no problems.
I just finished testing with one here at the store with no problems on 3 mags.

Also tested.
ICS AK mag, Fit good Shot well.
Kalashnikov AK 430 by cyber gun, uncomfortably tight fit, shot well

Galil Mags by Cyber gun DO NOT FIT.

I've E-mailed you, we'll find a solution or replace it.

Hey,

I had this issue with my STAR magazines for my old JG AK47 Spetz.

I simply used hot glue to add to the extra space, then corrected it with an xActo knife. Worked flawlessly, that and if you fuck up, you can go back and clean it up again.
