ICS VS. VFC M4A1, full metal only
I am still trying to decide between 2 different M4A1 options.
I am down to a VFC M4 SOPMOD from Mach1 or an ICS M4A1 RIS when Mach1 gets those in stock. What I want to know is which I should choose. I have done TONS of reading and believe these two to be the best AEG options. I know that ICS has some aftermarket part compatibility issues but they also offer a pretty outstanding gear box design. What I need to know is which is stronger overall? Which metal body is of higher quality and will not break under normal/heavy use? Which is higher quality overall. Anyone here that has experience with BOTH of these I would love to hear from you. Thanks guys |

ICS
3 years running plus beaten to hell and back. It's my work horse out of any rifle I've used over the years. I've not had the chance with VFC but have heard allot good things of them. The choice is up to you mate in the end. cheers

I was told that the gears strip on the ICS guns (which is what happened to my ICS MX5 after only owning it for a week and never actually "gaming" with it, just shooting it in my basement). I now have a different ICS gun. Is this a common issue, did you have to replace any internals yet?

well if VFC or other company never decide going to split mechbox concept then they never beat ICS in 100 years, just only split mechbox concept alone, ICS win all the way down. Yes sure that VFC external is a bit better but meh ! it's just a shell and will be wear down soon once you play them hard. It's internal that you will be reliable on.
How you complaint much when you have a gun that can be swap from indoor and outdoor just a matter of two minutes and analyze the problem of internal less than 10 minutes and probably got them fix less than 30 minutes if you have right tools and spare parts. I have 4 upper mechbox for ICS M4, so if one is broken then I still have a spare also ICS upper mechbox contain most broken parts in mechbox. I really hate to see people starting to quote which company better than other when they never have experience both of them. I have been in airsoft just only two years but I have been through almost 20 to 30 guns and broke at least 10 guns so far from just my personal preference. Out of 10 guns that I broke, 8 end up at my buddy's hand and only ICS brand that end up fix by myself. It's just very pure simple to fix those ICS brand. A piece of advice, you might need to reshim the lower mechbox for ICS M4, I got mine shim well and their gears last me more than 1 years and half of hard play and still currently last until now since the day I sold to new owner.
