Are ESS profile goggles good enough?

Are ESS profile NVG goggles good enough for flagraiders? There's a disclaimer about paintball approved goggles need to be on the field.

I Have a Shegmah for low facial coverage as well. Would that be enough?

Well, if that's the rule, then you'd better follow it. But, maybe you can ask the host or ref if it's okay.

AFAIK the relevant clause or w/e on the paintball fields insurance is that eyewear must be ASTM approved for paintball activities. Is ESS ASTM approved for paintball? It's not I already checked (I was like "damn" when I found out cause I have to purchase ASTM approved PB goggles for the field in Vancouver now but anything goes at the other field I play at as long as it's sturdy enough).

Anyways, supposedly there's going to be another ASTM standard being implemented for "Airsoft activities" and it's in the works (or possibly in the "draft" stages). I assume it's probably just a cash grab by the issuing institution so that if a company wants their goggles both approved for paintball and airsoft they'll have to pay twice.

The lens will protect from paintball. It will stop a 22lr or 12g pellet.But rest of your face wont so...keep in mind.

FR is absolutely strict w/regards to the eye protection rule. All goggles must be paintball-approved/certified...no exceptions...period. IF Joe or one of his staff find you on the field without, you will be immediately escorted off the field, summarily ripped a new one for ignoring the rules to which you have signed your name in acknowledgement of, and possibly (staff discretion) given the opportunity to rent a pair from them for the remainder of your stay. If you're caught again, you will be ejected...perhaps permanently.

Pick yourself up a pair of JT's or some other reasonably cheap PB goggle, remove (or not, your call) the mouth/ear protection so it's just a goggle again and you're good to go.

Flag Raiders requires you to wear paintball approved goggles, so no ballistics goggles are not permitted there. Gotta have goggles specifically for paintball, it's an insurance/liability issue I think

It's pretty silly, they make it mandatory for you to wear goggles that potentially have a significantly lower safety rating....
But I guess people have already tried to convince them to amend the rule

Thanks for the replies! I found an old thread talking about the whole paintball and balistic issue. the sad thing is you sign a waiver saying you can't sue them anyways.

Its not so much about the waiver alone. Its their insurance carriers who specify anyone on their property playing games with projectiles being fired at one another must wear paintball approved goggles as Paintball is their business baseline and what is used to formulate much of the businesses guidelines and such. They just so happen to be willing to allow us to use their venue for airsoft as its similar to paintball, but adjusting policies like insurance might cost them more money in order to allow us to wear ballistic goggles.

I dont really get the difference between the goggles that Ozone wants to use and paintball goggles, they basically look the same to me obviously your typical paintball goggles are more bulky but they are still full seal and they are both shatter resistant.

I would also tend to think that goggles that are basically designed for police and military use would be safer and of better quality than paintball goggles

They dont look too different but looks is not what the point is. ESS are not specifically paintball rated.
