Reviews request: Camelback HAWG.
I'm planning on buying one of those beasts to go with my chest rig:
What i want to know is: Is it a good light backpack? I really want something light, will put some stuf in it, and of course, my camelbak. I want to know also, Will it works properly with a cross-straps chest rig? And if it will interfere with my blast belt, since i've putted a pouch right in the back to hold my air bottle, where actual backpacks always sit( My eagle FSBE does interfere with my blast belt back pouch, and it really sucks. Thanks! |

I've owned one for nearly 2 years.
These things are solid, not a tear or loose thread so far, and I use it nearly every day. I bought it for riding downhill mountain bikes on the North Shore. I carry all my tools, food, water, spares etc. I've taken uncountable serious tumbles that my body couldnt take, but this backpack is holding strong, and still looks fairly new! Even after falling down 8 foot drops and tumbling down over rocks and roots down the trail.... As far as going with a chest rig, I cant comment. The straps on the backpack itself are very comfy, and have about 8mm of dense padding, the same padding is over the entire back of the pack too. Very comfy. edit: Mine is different than yours pictured. I have another row of molle on the upper area, and rows of molle down the sides of the pack. Like this: Buy it. Good chance it'll show up as UPS, so prepare to have brokerage cash on you. I ordered some stuff earlier this year from the US and chose the basic ground US Post for it, what cost me almost $40 to buy, UPS tacked on $20 brokerage fee.

I bought the HAWG back in 2003.
I have used it as my primary pack for everyday use since. Not a single problem, tear or broken part. I give it a 10/10. The best pack I have ever owned, period. I highly recommend the HAWG. Buy it from sealsactiongear.com (Canadian company in BC), they have three different colors in stock - black, woodland camo, and foliage green (link below) https://www.sealsactiongear.com/cata...?idCategory=14
