Well, ya - a rail mounted launcher like that could be attached, but have you ever seen one attached to a gun?
1) It looks like ass 2) It sits too low and feels unnatural because it sits so low 3) It's unrealistic - a rail mounted M203 does not exist in the real world. 4) Did I mention it looks like ass? |

stupid question, what is that weapon replicated after? or is it just a bunch of parts from different guns put together?
(It doesn't look like a M4. or a M16) |

Are you referring to the gun in Fox's images? That's not a replica. It's real steel.

Well... the main topic gun of this thread is the MK18 MOD 1. It's the title of this thread. lol.
The basic features of the MK18 MOD1 are accepted in to the SOPMOD Block 2 program. "MK18 MOD1" is just a type-classification. Just like how M4A1, M16A1, A2, A3, A4, mk12 mod0, etc etc are all just type-classifications that designate a specific weapon configuration and catalogued in to military nomenclature, despite all coming from the same family. In other words, these names for a particular gun SPECIFICALLY indicates the components/accessories that make up the complete gun. They all come from the same family (which come from the Armalite family tree), and most components are interchangeable. You can take components from an M4A1, switch out the trigger group to a burst group, barrel to a 16", stock to a full one, and the handguard to the M16A2 handguard, and then you would have an M16A2. Likewise, take an M4, swap out the rail system to a DD MK18 RIS II, sights to KAC BUIS, the barrel to a 10.3" variant, the stock to a Crane stock, and the flash hider to a KAC QD flash hiider and you would then have a MK18 MOD1. The naming is there to identify different variants and just to make things a lot easier. Isn't it easier to approach your Armorer and just ask: "Hey bud, you mind throwing me a Mark 18 Mod 1?" Rather than: "Hey man, can you give me a gun with a Colt 5.56mm receiver and bolt carrier, an A3 trigger group, a Daniel Defense RIS II hand guard, configured on to a 10.3" free floating barrel, standard A2 pistol grip with a Crane stock and Lewis & Machine Tool back up iron sights? As for the picture that Fox posted, that's just another Armalite variant, with a fluted 14.5" outer barrel, Larue Tactical free floating rail set, Vortex flash hider, Troy BUIS, Magpul MIAD pistol grip, and a VLTOR Modstock. Ranger pull base plate on the magazine. I *suppose* you could say it's based on an M4, simply because it's an Armalite receiver with a 14.5" outer barrel, but it's not really an M4A1 as far as actual nomenclature is concerned.

The DD defense mk18 ris is made so you can remove the bottom part of the ris; to barrel mount an m203.
