WE Hi Capa 3.8 Slide stuck/Hammer won't stay put
I'm a bit embarassed about this, my first BB gun failed on me :X
Here are my observations: 1)The slide can go back full length, but cannot go forward again because the hammer is obstructing its ability to do so, if I hold down the hammer, the slide returns back to its default position 2)The hammer doesn't "lock". In otherwords if I pull the hammer down, it won't arm or it will just go back to its original position again 3)When I try to fire the gun while keeping the hammer down, the gun sputters out gas and BBs at a terrific rate. I'm also having difficulty finding diagrams of this gun online, any help is appreciated. Last edited by Strebco; October 14th, 2010 at 14:40.. |

Your hammer isn't engaging with your sear...for a couple of possible reasons:
1. The parts are worn 2. The leaf spring (it controls the grip safety, sear pressure and sear disconnect) might have slipped/jammed out of position. 3. one of the parts (looks like nubs that stick up from the lower hammer assembly) that trips things back into position might be broken. So.... 1. Research more on hicapa/1911 sears, disconnectors and leaf springs....there's some threads with good pics of how things should look (maybe not for your specific one....but they're probably quite similar in principle) 2. Check out each part for wear, breakage, fit & position 3. reassemble diligently |

I'm gonna say 99% sure uve accidentally disconnected ur middle leafspring in the hand grip and it's sitting on the wrong side of it's paddle. I have a bitch of a time sometimes getting mine back on just right so it's an easy thing to miss.

I managed to get it working again, although I'm not sure how I did it. I disassembled the lower part of the gun and reassembled it as shown on some diagram I found on the interwebs. I made sure the two right prongs on the leaf spring were on top of the other bits, I reassembled placing the saftey grip in last and slid the bottom part (part #31?).
There is one more thing- although the gun fires well, once I cock the gun, the slider is fine but if I cock it again sometimes the hammer prevents the slider from returning. I'm not sure if this is typical of how the gun works as I only bought this gun recently and didn't get a chance to famliarise myself with it- other than dissecting it. Thanks for your help! It's a slide....not slider.
If you pull the slide fully to the rear...and just let go of it...it should slide forward completely on it's own. Make sure your blow back unit is screwed in tight to the slide and has not come loose. Again..google/search for pics and disassembly/reassembly. If it doesn't do that then you need to look at beveling the tip of the hammer where it is catching. Just look closely and adjust/file it appropriately. |
