Element U94 Style PTT not transmitting only recieving
My Element U94 Style PTT isn't transmitting, only receiving. I hadn't used it prior to this point, and when I tried I found this issue with it.
Does anyone have this style of PTT for a Kenwood 2 pin that they could open up and take a picture of? I know nothing about radio wiring, but thought maybe they soldered the wires wrong? I tired the headset on a different PTT I've got for a Motorola 1 pin, and it worked. I also tried using a phone style handset on the radio, and it worked. Lastly I tried straight radio to radio. I also checked to see if the connectors where the headset pin goes in were not making contact, so I pushed them in gently, and they all make firm contact, but this still didn't solve the problem. Anyone have any thoughts? |

I may start using a volt meter and checking the leads from the radio to the PTT switch then continue to test the rest of the leads until i found a dead lead.
Then i would test the dead lead while depressing the PTT switch to see if it becomes active. once you find the dead lead at least you will know where the fault is and witch part/area the work/fix needs to be done. But not transmitting it would have to be in the radio to PTT to mic some where. Sorry i cant go into details best i can do to explane it online. |
