Is this an older version or is it the newer with the split box design?

Well I suppose from the name it is based upon the .22 "civilian" version of the MP5 which is the GSG-5. I imagine that it would be aesthetically more similar to the GSG rather than the MP5. ie trade marks. Though this is all speculation on my part.
