KSC Glock 18C Mag Catch Quetsions

Hi Guys

Yes I am BACK!!! Back to asking questions about my new Baby the G18C

This time around, I'd like to ask questions regarding the Mag Catch. I probably know what your thinking.... why did I create multiple threads bout the G18C instead of combining them all in to one.

Well as a new Glock owner, I learn different things everyday and today I learned that KSC's Glocks have plastic Mag Catches that are prone to wearing out quick.

My question is which replacement Mag Catch do you recommend?

I found Guarder and AIP on ehobby. Guarder of course is out of stock at the moment but AIP is still available. (really hate the engraving on the AIP lol)

Now looking at both they look quit different.

Guarder: Guarder Mag Catch looks pretty similar to the stock one but metal. If I go with Guarder, I'd have to file down the rod about 1-2mm to get it to fit properly. That is the only problem but other than that I hear good things about it.

AIP: I haven't heard or read anything about it so far and the engravings aren't really my thing. Though it looks quit different and the contents include what I believe to be some sort of rubber and a screw. Not sure what to think there.

Anyone have any experience or info on either one of these upgrades? Which do you recommend getting?

Alternative solution to avoiding wearing out stock Mag Catch

I'm also thinking can't we avoid wearing out the Stock Mag Catch by pushing down the Mag Release before inserting a new magazine? Instead of jamming a new mag in and wearing out the Mag Catch, just push the Mag Release in, insert the magazine and let go. That allows you to avoid the collision between plastic Mag Catch and Metal Magazine.

That sounds easy enough or is the damage done just by normal usage like having the magazine rest on the mag catch?

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
S

I too have used the Guarder on all my Glocks on some of them I did need to file but all worked great any ways. I have never seen the other one so I can't say anything about it.
