airsoft battery woes

Hello, I recently bought a G&G m4 RIS max from buyairsoft.ca, sent it back to em twice now, battery keeps dying after about 1000 rds, ie 2.5 clips, they keep telling me they can get 5-7 clips off one charge but I cant get any more then 3.5 at most, not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Anyone else had similar problems?

using stock G&G battery/charger.

Buy a GOOD charger
iMAX B6 and the pirahna digital peak charger are both great chargers

Well there's your problem.

Solution, stock battery/charger meets the garbage. You downgrade the ludicrous spring in that gun and get a good battery/charger.

your problem is that you have a shitty charger

A bigger problem is the gun shoots +440 fps and the internals and electrical were designed for 360-380 fps. Drop in the replacement spring the gun comes with (that G&G install for every other country but ours) and you battery life will go up dramatically.

But the stock battery and charger aren't the greatest.

my battery is a 9.6V 1400mAH, I intend to downgrade the spring asap, have a guarder 110% on the way hoping it'll stay below 400.

Im just confused because their shop guys say it shoots 5-7 clips off one charge and I cant get anywhere near that, was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

5-7 mags of how many BB's? Are we talking mag ticklers? How are you shooting? Mostly in full auto or semi?

1400mah is going to get you anywhere between 1000-1400 rounds give or take. Typically 1 round per mAh but then take into account how inefficient a stock mech box/motor is, as it's probably not shimmed correctly and the motor height could be off.

But as stated, it's a crap battery and charger to start with.

sorry my bad. Mags, 450 round hi cap magazines, they told me it can shoot around 2000 on one charge, but I get around 1000-1200.

I guess thats accurate to the 1400 mah? I was just confused because when I sent it to them, they claim it can shoot 5-7 high cap 450 round mags off one charge.

is there any issue with using a 9.6v 2000 mah intellect battery in something like this? the m16 style stock is quite large and I'm pretty sure I could fit it in there.

nope just swap springs and get a smart charger.

The problem isn't the battery, it's the stock wall charger you're using. The wall charger is probably not charging the batteries properly.

Do yourself a favour - spend some money on a proper charger. A good smart charger will run about $80 and will balance charge your batteries. If you can't afford that, spend $35 on a cheap balance charger that is suitable for NiCad & NiMH batteries.

With a smart charger, charge your batteries at the voltage rating of your battery pack, and 10-20% of its mAh rating. E.g., for a 9.6 V 1600 mAh battery on a smart charger, setup the charger for 9.6 V, and 160 mAh charge rate. This will tell the charger to fill the battery at a rate of 160 mAh at 9.6 V, which will take about 10 hours. (Note that most smart chargers can be set in 1/10 of an amp, so settings will be more likely 100 mAh, 200 mAh, etc. I set for 200 mAh, and it takes about 8 hrs to charge.) This will fill your battery to about 95% capacity (9.5 hrs continuous usage, in theory) which is more than enough for a day's game. You can also charge at higher than 10-20% of mAh, but not higher than 50% of mAh. However, the lower mAh/longer charge time provides better battery performance and longevity in the field.

The cheap balance chargers are just plug-and-play, and lets you know when a battery is fully charged with a green indicator light. Charge times are usually about 4-5 hrs. They're fairly good at charging batteries without setup or fuss.

Continued use of the wall (dumb) charger will only kill your batteries.
