Closed WE PDW & Falcon VS-Z
I own a closed bolt WE PDW. For various reasons, I would prefer not to "upgrade" to an open bolt. That being said, I would prefer a better hop up system. From everything I've heard/read, the Falcon VS-Z system is a far better hop-up. However, it looks like Falcon does not make this system specifically for the PDW. They do make it for the scar, and I have heard that the scar and pdw use an extremely similar mechanism. Unfortunately I do not own a SCAR, so I cannot make any comparisons.
Long story short, has anyone purchased the Falcon VS-Z for a Scar and successfully installed it in a PDW? If there is already a thread discussing this, I apologize. Last edited by Sicyon; September 4th, 2011 at 03:17.. |

So, I took apart my both my WE M4 and the PDW and made some comparisons between their brass tube systems. The M4's has a slightly longer brass tube (on both sides, where the inner barrel sits and where the nozzle assembly slides into) but this could easily be cut down. The problem lies in that the PDW's has a notch cut in the one side which keeps the entire system secured in the outer barrel. This notch could be added, but would have to be very precise since even the slightest difference would cause the magazine to not sit flush up against the brass tube (leading to all kinds of other problems).
I haven't decided yet if I want to attempt it. Anyone happen to have an old, unused closed bolt assembly that they could take some pictures and measurements of and post up? |
