chances are your friend is lying about getting it up to 650 fps, unless he has done no research and just saw a spring that shoots 650 fps that he thinks can just be run by any motor. once he pops it in, if it is an aeg this will happen: he wont even be able to shoot it because the motor will not be able to pull it. if it is a springer, this will happen: he will not be able to pull the bolt back because it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyy to heavy. if it is a gas gun, he might be able to get a special nozzel or something, but that would wear out the parts sooooooooooo fast. either way, this gun WILL be broken in less than 1000 shots, as the spring will brake all the internals.
either that, or its 650 fps with a .12 gram, and that is a little more reasonable with a sniper weight bb, joule wise. still a little hot, but not too hot to play. my friend has a 450 fps ak, and that kills, so i recommend an MED for the sniper, but thats just my opinion. |

Try 500 FPS w/ .20 grams BBs. Hell I was recently shooting at targets with my 450 FPS sniper and at 30 feet BBs would hit the target ricochet back at me and fly behind me around 20-30 feet do that math. Thats up to 90 feet and the BB would lose abunch of speed when it hit the target.

You mean a VSR-10 clone lol. I doubt you can get your hands on a real VSR-10 which FYI shoot around the 280-300 fps mark.

It amazes me how people want 500+ FPS airsoft guns when a 6mm sphere is incredibly hard to stabilize above the 360-380 range. A sphere is not an aerodynamically friendly shape.

I think an airsoft gun with 500+ FPS would be considered as a restricted firearm.

It's not about velocity. It's about muzzle energy. Energy is the product of velocity and mass of the projectile. In order for a 0.2g airsoft projectile to reach the energy required to turn it into a controlled / restricted / prohibited firearm, it has to shoot in the area of 770-ish fps (can't remember the exact velocity, but it's around there). So as Drake said, please refrain from giving advice if you don't know what you're talking about. Noobs that don't know what they're talking about are the reason that misinformation spreads the way it does.
