Opinion: Camo Colour Pattern
Hey guys sorry if I am beating a dead horse here but I have hit a fork in the road. I am in the midst of buying all my gear and really need to be pointed in the right direction!
Main Problem: What is the best colour camo (and most popular) loadout? Right now I am just running with British Woodland BDU to get thru a few games but I am about to buy a Pantac 6094 vest and am really on the fence of whether to buy the Multicam OR Coyote Tan? Also want to buy a mich helmet and dont know what colour would be the most ideal with the vest and a variety of whatever my BDU is for the day. I will be using the vest and helmet with a variety of Desert, Woodland, Multicam BDU's and in all environments. Also my Revision goggles are Foliage green. Really appreciate it guys want to get it right the FIRST time! Last edited by Scrivah; October 20th, 2012 at 21:25.. |

If you start running in a team with the same group of guys over and over, the answer will eventually become "whatever the rest of your team runs". I usually run Multicam or a mix of Multicam and a bit of olive drab, and the rest of my guys do the same thing.
Coyote is a great choice though.

It seems like you are leaning towards the greens already. It comes down more to which color you wish the webbing to be, and going from there. I started off with 'noob' black webbing, and used whatever BDU of the day under there. I found i was doing mainly green/OD BDU camo patterns, so the natural choice was OD webbing on my second go-around. My logic is that although many people get the desert tans, I live and play in Ontario, where OD is most effective over any other shade. Woodland, multicam, marpat, cadpat tw, tigerstripe, DPM, A-TACS fg are all popular for airsoft use. Most of these also have a Tan/desert counterpart. I've also got a PAGST helmet that i originally bought black, and sprayed it in Krylon OD camo with great effect - there is also a krylon Tan camo counterpart. Basically, decide whether you going to be doing milsim's at any point of time, review past and present events to see what each particular color ends up where, and go from there... In the end, it comes down to personal preference. FWIW Last edited by HackD; October 20th, 2012 at 21:59.. |

Also - to point out in my milsim comment - most events are assigning sides based on the BDU camo pattern, not the webbing color - so it's a secondary consideration for that. If it's a 'green team' requirement, you need a green based camo, but the webbing could be black, OD, tan, multicam or whatever..

I'd have to say go Coyote Brown for your rig, it fits better with both tan and green than green does IMO. As previously mentioned helmets are easy to paint, get a tan helmet and spray a little green on it or vice versa. You could even mix it up by getting a tan rig and putting both tan and green pouches on it. This will both break up the your silhouette of a big solid coloured blob, and make it fit with both green and tan based BDU's. A lot of people would probably wince at the idea of mixed coloured pouches and gear, some will even only buy pouches and rigs from the same manufacturer to make sure the shades all match exactly.... I'm not so picky.
For camo pattern perhaps where you intend to play the most should dictate that, after all the whole idea of camouflage is to help you blend into your environment, not to look cool. Most camos will have a woodland and arid variant, you may want to take that into consideration when choosing what to go with if you want to use the same pattern for both your green and tan set-ups. I personally like old school US Woodland and Tri-colour desert. They should both be easy to find surplused at good price. Last edited by Kozzie; October 21st, 2012 at 01:36.. |

I have only one Molle chest rig which I set up for any event and that is CB. My fast helmet is also CB. Any helmet color is fine because you can get different camo covers for it.

Just ordered my Pantac LT6094 in CB. This colour seems to be the most popular for all uses.
