The level of face protection is up to you.

No amount of gear is ever enough gear. Always more gear!... always more.

Mid-Caps yes, High-Caps NO! Mids are more flexible than Low-Caps. Depending on what kind of games you play you may want as many as 6-8 Mid-Caps, time will tell.

With that many mags to juggle you'll want a dump pouch but make sure you have the mag pouches for the mags first. MOLLE is your friend.

Revision Desert Locust goggles with a mesh lower or JT Spectra flex 8 mask with thermal lens are good options. Both can be worn as goggles only or with face pro. I usually don't wear face pro outdoors. The revisions and type 1 mesh mask will give you the best vision and cheek weld.

m102 etc has it bang on, a good smart charger will pay for itself. Intellect batteries or G&P which seem to use intellect cells anyways. I'm very pleased with my Onyx charger, the 220 is a good option for Nickel batteries only, the 235 does Nickel, LiPo & LiFe. You can find them online or at your local hobby shop. Just make sure you get a charger/balancer if you're going LiPo. An extra battery rarely hurts.

I also use Bastard and Madbull bb's, my preference is to bastards but you take what you can get.

I love the people stopping in to warn the guy that is getting full face protection and specifically mentioning that he is getting goggles for reasons of increased coverage/protection....

Those pictures are awesome!

Thanks man I actually went for the revision locus + full face/ear mesh protection. I wanted an excuse to get a nice pair of glasses for shooting anyways and found them to be slightly less outrageously expensive on opticsplanet.com

Just ordered some bastards as recommended! The LiPo vs Nimh is gonna take some pondering and a few threads to read before I make the call for sure.

If you find the full sized mask interferes with your cheek weld try the smaller one w/out the ears. I started with the larger mask for the greater protection and fount it to be too cumbersome. I switched to the no ears version and was pleasantly surprised how much easier it was to shoot my weapon.

edit: I wear shooting glasses when playing outdoor and full seal goggles aren't required. The more you get "used" to being shot the less pro you feel you need but you're taking your chances. Best to start with full protection and remove stuff if you're comfortable.

I wear those ballistic goggles and pretty cheap too
I got a big face to match my big head so I get shot there a lot :|

Vests offer you chest protection from BBs btw...if you don't like you can always do fast mags on your belt

You can get some really inexpensive used ESS goggles off ebay. I bought a group of 5 for under $40.
Be weary of ESS (fuck do I hate to say that) The quality of their glasses/goggles has gone to shit since Oakley bought them.

I still swear by my old pair of ICE glasses (bought back in 2005) but after talking to retailers and reading about problems on here I switched to Smith glasses.

I'd be testing those glasses before you used them at a game.

Desert Locust are probably the most popular goggle out there for airsoft. The face mesh I would advise you to modify it to fit the goggle or you will hate the damn thing as they do not line up well together at all.

Also depending on where you are going to play some indoor fields want you to buy their field bb's. People are saying buy 8-10 midcaps....you really don't need that much to start out with. 3 or 4 120rounders should start you off just fine. Buy GOOD ones right from the start. I suggest Magpul PTS pmags 120rd. Best mag out there.

And as others have suggested good boots or you will find yourself in the hospital with a sprained/broken ankle. I like Magnum boots myself. You will be buying stuff FOREVER so be modest until you know exactly what you want/need.

I've switched my M4 to midcaps this past spring - 5x120 rounds at present. I got tired of the tactical maracas, and noobie time was over. I'm in the process of switching fully over to midcaps on my M14 and still have yet to deal with my Mp5 .. but that's a loaner gun i've yet to personally field in a year.

I must confess though - I haven't entirely abandoned hi-caps. I still fill one up for the M4 and put it in my pouch. An emergency back-up, if you will. Stuffed full, it doesn't rattle, if it isn't used. I've gone to it twice in the past year of skirmishes.

Saves me from having to go back to the staging area, mid game.

Well my friend was talked out of wearing face protection by someone that claimed getting shot in the face is rare.

My friend now has dental bill for an implant.
