Arrow Historical question.

Hello all.

I'm from Russia, and my english is not so good, but I hope, this circumstance shouldn't become too serious problem.

So, I've got a question, answer for which I can't find on Wikipedia or another sites.

In wich years the C7 rifle was exchanged to C7A1, and in which conflict was first with used it (C7A1)?

Thanks.

Thanks, CDN_Stalker, but there is no interesting to me date, only when C7A1 was exchanged to C7A2("With Canadian involvement in Afghanistan..", what means 2003).

Our troops arrived in A-stan in late 2001, so the A2 came sometime after that. I hadn't kept much track on when the variations came out, but there are quite a few Canadian Forces members here that can maybe shed some actual dates for you.

The C7A1s came out in the early 90s I believe, as for which conflict first used, it would be The Balkans(Bosnia/Croatia)
Thanks!

My Regiment used to keep the Navy C7's with the fixed carry handle, so they were still in service (as of 2007). As for the C7A1, early to mid 90's sounds about right. I know the CF was still using the C1A1 (FN FAL) until the late 80's.

I was with the Fort Garry Horse in Winnipeg. As for the "Navy C7", it wasn't a specific mod or anything, they belonged to HMCS Chippawa (guess I should have said "Navy's C7's" instead). Even in land-locked Winnipeg we had a Naval ship LOL. For what it's worth, we even had a couple of C1A1's kicking around the weapons lock up even though they were never used for anything. Best as I can figure it they were demo pieces.

1 RCR was the first regular army battalion to recieve them. i know this because i was in the company that was slotted to go to kabul for when the rifles showed up. that started in about december 2004 when we recieved them in dukes company in 1 rcr and then the rest of the companies started getting them.
3 rcr started to recieve them in the middle of 2005. no idea about the rest of the army but that much i do know.

I guess it does get the point across but it's just so damn funny some times when you read it in Russian
First translation ore or less says: "We used to be old C7 rifles during basic in 09"

Your reply says: "Where were you?"

I'm not any better lol

Got that one right, just translated the individual words then copy/pasted them here
For the PWT we used C7A2s with the Elcan, green furniture and adjustable stocks (I checked the dates on the lower receiver at the time - they were just upgraded from earlier rifles... I think mine was dated late 80s or early 90s IIRC). For all other field training we used the old C7s with integrated carry handle. I felt like I was in Vietnam.

Loved the old C7s. I wish we could use them all the time.
