mmmm, dummy question

I'm really new to the airsoft world and the guns. I just bought myself a umarex hk 416 cqb (the gun so far is amazing.) But my dumb question is, I got a g&p 9.6v 1600mah nunchuck battery and a 'valken energy' universal smart charger....do the batteries normally get really hot when charging or am I doing something wrong and am going to explode? :P Thanks for anyone who responds.

Like a warm bath hot not scalding hot.

Also depends on how fast your charger charges. Is there a mAh output rating on the charger?

I can either switch it between .9a or 1.8v. The charger came switched to the 1.8v setting.

use the .9a setting, 1.8a is only for larger capacity batteries

From my understanding, batteries get hot if they're being overcharged, but I could very well be mistaken.

nickel chemistry batteries naturally get hot when charging, and more so during top up
lipo's should not be more than room temperature during charging at any point

You're charging it too fast. Lower the charging amps.
