Range for lasers

Hi,

I was wondering what is the range of lasers in airsoft?

My objectif is to see clearly the dot on a surface at a certain range.

Because it<s for sniper project, I was wondering if mounted laser can be adjusted (like red dot) to stay in the same axis than the barrel for long distance shot. I guess a slightly default on the rail, or structure can make it unprecise...

The dot won't co-witness with you BB impact at all ranges. There will be a hight over bore factor if you aim it straight parallele.

That being said, a green laser is kinda hard to see in daylight, but trough a scope, I guess you will see it if you aim in the shades. As far as range go, I'd say plenty in the shades with a scope. At night, unlimited.

It won't be eye safe though.

Laser range will be dependent on the type of laser. The sport/application of laser will not have any impact on the range.

Zero the beam of your laser to the target in your scope. The same way you would zero a weapon sight to a target for a specific range.

300m? Airsoft guns can barely shoot 90m lol

Also, lasers work BOTH ways, if you can see the dot on your target, your target and everyone around him can see YOU.

Besides, given windage and hopup, brush, gusts of wind, hop variations, etc. You're basically just never going to be able to hit that dot at 90m.
It's best to just learn how to shoot people with a scope, since at those ranges, you really do have to watch the BB to see where it's going.

The OP did mention he wouldn't shoot BBs... Although the OP is being vague on his intentions, knowing the kind of simulation projects he and his group do, I believe his intentions is to use the laser as a long range sniper simulation, probably aiming at non-human targets/objectives.

Are you going to try and approximate ballistics using a laser? If so the emitter will need to be above the line of sight.
