Question re: TM Glock26 Advanced

Hey, I was curious if the front piece on the glock 26 advanced is interchangable?

A better question may be, can you turn a g26a into a g26?

thx

Yes but you'll need to shorten a small front outer barrel as well as the inner barrel and remove the rail. After the rail is gone however the saftey switch will stick out quite a bit and possible could get turned on in a holster. Also you can't shorten the magwell without sawing a large portion of the handguard off (If you wanted to use the short mags like the 26 does)
Overall you could but I wouldn't recommend it as there are a couple of design differences between the two handguns.

the large safety switch comes off with the bottom rail
nothing sticks out as it is just an exended thing which toggles the original g26 safety which lies flush with the frame
the compensator & rail come right off with a screw, but you will need to shorten the inner/outer barrels
without doing any chopping and just swapping barrels, the 26a easily turns into a 26 with extended magwell

oo i forgot
the 26a guide rod is a bit longer too

If someone wouldn't mind posting a picture of their g26a looking as close as possible to a g26, could you post 'em for me?

Pretty please with sugar on top? :innocent:

I have to ask... If you want a G26 why not just buy one?

I already own a G26.

I'd like to be able to sell it and get the advanced, only IF it can be a normal 26 as well. That way, I can have both

BTW, is the magwell extension solidly attatched to the rest of the body?

Maybe it would be best if someone could post up the exploded diagram from the g26a manual?

I'd really appreciate that.

From experience:

- The extended grip is solidly fixed to the gun

- There are a few important differences in the 26 A and the 26. They do not interchange easily.

- you cannot put a front sight on the 26A slide without the compensator on (at least not without modification)

- There is a section underneat the frame of the gun that has been modified from the 26 format that alters the safety and as far as I could tell, cannot really be removed easily

- You would need to modify the outer barrel, and the inner barrel (as previously mentioned) to get the gun to look remotely like a 26

- After modification, the inner barrel would not seat properly in the cut outer barrel (without FURTHER modification) and would destroy any semblance of accuracy.

In short: No, they aren't "interchangeable".
