Respawn or no respawn?

I'm curious as to what people actually like, is it annoying knowing that guy will be back shortly? But at the same time if you make a bad move you get another shot at the guy that got you?

Nobody wants to sit out for a long time, but sometimes short and sweet games (no respawn) works very well. Any objective based games however require reinforcements to get the job done, or else the better team will only focus on eliminating the other team to win versus objectives.

It depends on the style of game. In serious milsims, respawns can be used to extend the duration of the game, but for realism's sake, can be eliminated. For CQB, I find that having respawns is best because the pace is so much faster, so people die a lot more.

Respawns in public games make it so that you don't have two teams of spawn campers. You have two half teams of spawn campers instead.

Respawning can be used creatively to simulate a larger force than is actually on the ground.

it can be a tool in balancing game dynamics

that said.. the most intense experiences are found in no respawn games.

What I have been doing for the WWII events I run is break the event down into Missions , each mission has discrete timings , and everyone has one life per Mission. the outcome of Missions impact the next Mission.

So for example , the Mission may be to establish and hold a forward observation point for 2 hours. If you get taken out in the first 5 minutes you are out till the next mission launches in 2.5 hours.

I finally found the solution to the spawn camping thing.

You cordon off a small area for respawn with rope or flagging tape. Players who are respawning must be inside that cordon and wait the appropriate time (5m, 10m, whatever). However, as long as they are INSIDE that zone they may shoot effectively and are considered unkillable.

It's repellent to the spawn campers.

Only thing is you have to keep the spawns far away from objectives, but if you're smart that's easy.

I like that idea actually. Anyone remember DOD from the old Counterstrike days? Both teams had a spawn point and although they were tough to get into, they had mounted guns that would cut you down if you invaded. Similar idea, love it.

No respawning. IF you die in airsoft, you die in real life.

I was the asshole that would either be a grenadier and time nades into spawn, or glitch the defensive sandbags in dod_flash so I could deploy my MG42 at the spawn without prone.

I'd sprint past the enemy spawn guns in Avalanche with my sniper rifle and sit in dark corners of the enemy base, killing them as they tried to get into the fight. If they did get by me I'd shoot them in the back from their rear position. So many memories of being a dick. I never glitched or nothing, but wow could you be annoying in that game.
