|
Stock VFC on 11.1 lipo
Just wondering if anyone has experience running a stock VFC on 11.1v lipo? I want a bit more power and currently run 7.4v on it. Nothing has been modified on the gun, it is a stock VFC M4. I don't want to melt the insides or mess it up, if anyone has experience with this please let me know.

Which generation of VFC do you have? I think the newer ones come pre-upgraded with a FET in them.
If your going to be running an 11.1v, I would strongly suggest putting in a 3034 mosfet. Do you know the discharge rate of the 11.1 you planned on using?

I did on the Mod1 but i swapped the motor for a Godzilla 5000

My motor overheated/heated up quite quickly on a 11.1V when it was stock. I have the VFC Saber SD.

If it's an Avalon series, you are ok, if it's a stock one, you will need a FET to protect your trigger contacts while using a 11.1v lipo.
You can always get the plug and play mosfets like the MERF 3.2! |

There isn't much info on the gun from where I bought it from (Mach1 Airsoft) but I believe it is a VR16 E-series standard M4 (not even an RIS). I just purchased it this past summer so I am assuming it is the most recent version of their VFC offerings.
Also a noob question here, but what is an FET? I am familiar with a MOSFET. On a side note, I purchased the gun with the intention of not doing many serious internal upgrades, but if I can give it a few upgrades here or there without risking too much then I am all ears. Thanks for the help guys! |

An upgraded barrel group wouldn't hurt either if you'd like better groupings at range. This is usually accomplished via R-HOP and tightbore or just a simple PDI W-Hold rubber (which I've had great results with). To help decide what to upgrade, its best to read around and see what performance you'd like to get out of your gun.

It really depends on what characteristics of your gun you're looking to improve. Accuracy, Reliability, ROF, Trigger Response...
Flat-hopping or R-hopping your hop up are the best things you can do to improve your accuracy. A Flat-hop will cost you ~$20 (free if you use your existing hop rubber and make the nub yourself), and is pretty easy to do. There are plenty of good tutorials out there. |
