The Mechabox project is not necessarily going to last for ever. It might be a few batches of x thousands units, ...

All hypothetical for now

WOW thanks for the info and the very impressive video. I look forward to seeing the rest of the series on these nice guns. Perhaps like you suggest when these become more mainstream their prices will be more affordable to the average airsoft grunt.

Again (will never get tired of saying it) THANKS my Canadian friends.
By the way, I keep hearing about the beauty of Canada. A close friends has just returned from a trip over there with his wife and I am about seeing THAT video

Now, back to PTWs: second part is due in a while, since I wouldnt like to disappoint you with crappy useless stuff.
Today Ive used again them rifles at the sundays skirmish and I did change the cylinder, right in the middle of a fight (and I was under fire!). I needed more range and I put in the M130. Lotsa kills today for me, been a good one

Hi Solo, I have couple questions regarding PTW.

How do you distinguish between Gen1/2 and Gen3?

I have heard that PTW weapon series have muzzle velocity of 120m/s with 0.20g BBs(74m/s previously), but maximum range of 40 meters. Is the above specification correct? Can you find such information inside the user manual?

Is there anyway to ensure that your purchased product is a Gen3 PTW?

Many thanks for your assistance in advance.

Hi trade,
legit questions.

From the official US Systema site, www.zshot.com:

If you are not sure which version PTWS you have, here are a few tips:
1. All Gen-3 PTWS have steel barrels installed. If your barrel has slightly lighter color then the receiver (similar finish to the magazine), it is a steel barrel and it is Gen-3. Gen-1 and Gen-2 PTWS have aluminum barrel with a hard-anodized finish, which is darker and closer to the receiver's finish.
2. There is no Gen-1 M4A1. If your M4 has a steel barrel, its Gen-3. If it has a aluminum barrel, its Gen-2.
3. If you have an M16 (A2 or A3) but it does not have a steel barrel, look inside your butt stock (the battery compartment). Pull the battery connector out and you should find a small power control circuit (where the fuse plugs into). If the circuit is encased in a black, hard-plastic tube, its Gen-1. If its surrounded by a clear shrink-wrap, its a Gen-2.
The above information about initial muzzle speed and max. range is partially correct.
The initial muzzle speed will depend on what cylinder you installed internally. Depending on whether you put in an M90 (90 m/s), M110 or M130, you will get muzzle velocities accordingly. Same will go for range.

The best way to make sure you are about purchasing a new 3rd gen, is by formally, clearly asking you want a 3rd generation, and request that the seller makes sure he is selling you a 3rd generation. If he is not sure, direct him to the above few guidances and he will be able to determine that.

If he/they is still unable to determine that, drop that seller and look for another one

Do not hesitate to ask for more.
Why I am offering myself to help for nothing? Because I have worked hard for myself on these over time, and it is a pleasure to see others find about these PTWs which I like very much.
