Support weapon - Internal Gears
I'm in the final process of scratch building an RPK.
I intend on upgrading the internals to properly suit the support role. Just wondering on some opinions. I was thinking of going one of two routes. First route: High speed gears with a low spring. Fast ROF but less range Second route: Torque up gears with a high spring 150% or so. Lower ROF but longer range. Was wondering from any other support weapon guys which way would you go? I've used a set of super torque up before in a previous gun, but that was a sniper weapon on a small battery and large spring, ROF was terrible but mainly due to the small batt I used.

I'd go with just reinforced gears and PDI150% spring. That's what I acually have in mine. Works fine with large battery.

Heya Gish,
When I built my RPK, I was running the following internals; PDI 170% spring TM V3 Mechbox w/ system bushings Guarder aluminum pistonhead + guarder purple piston Systema super torqueup gearset Stock eg-1000 All powered by a custom 2400mah 9/6v Battery I had made special for the stock. With that I was still getting excellent rate of fire and my range was pretty good - I believe last game I played with it, I had it chrono'd @ 380ish. |
