Question Do you wear an armor carrier with your usual gear?

Just out of curiosity. Mind you, just the armor carrier, not the load bearing equipment (unless it's a hybrid).

I've been thinking about getting one (for collection) as I am a military enthusiast.

Unfortunately the one I'd like to have is the CF issue one. None of the Army surplus stores in my area have one and they currently cost $250 made from Tiger Tactical

For me, it really depends on the type of game / situation I'll be going in to. If mobility is a key factor, I usually leave out the carrier. But typically I use a carrier/Interceptor armour for that "oh so 1337" look. *lol*

Yeah, it definitaly falls into the 1337 look...! It's not really needed in airsoft, so it's solely for looks, which is half of airsoft.

Blackhawk Industries Plate Carrier or Commando Recon Chest Harness (with plate) for me.

Damn right :)

Even though style over substance for the most part isn't what keeps you "alive" in airsoft, the key to playing is to have fun and hey when you're a gear whore, like me, the more gear the better

I bought a body armor so I can wear it underneath my HSGI Warlord. I'll only use it for those colder days as an extra layer that can keep me warm. If the body armor is well adjusted and so is the chest rig it is pretty damn comfortable and you totally forgot you're wearing it.

I haven't been wearing any, but I plan on doing so this season (for milsim events anyway). It completes the "look" and just adds that much more to realism -- looking at pics of Western soldiers in combat today, pretty much everyone is wearing it.

The fact that there are some really nice/well made repros now, which are much more affordable than the real deal, also makes it easier to get into, and most of the new-style stuff has molle so it can also serve as LBE.

For my Brit stuff, I'll be using the Mk.1 l/w body armor with an Arktis assault vest... i just need to find something to stuff the body armor cover with that'll give it a realistic look (suggestions? maybe PM as to not threadjack this one)

It's integrated into my gear. It's handy to make my rig a little stiffer and the added warm factor is a bonus during winter games.

I try to use armor as much as possible. Indoor, I have my real level IIIA vest under my tacvest and my real PASGT.

For outsite, the helmet is still used when I'm not sniping. I have a plate carrier with integrated armor comming in in a few weeks, so I'll be fully armored for the season.

I'm wearing a pt delta under a pasgt with an eagle plate carrier right now while I chairsoft.
Though since I'm not wearing anything but a g-string I don't feel weighed down and still have pretty good mobility.
I'd have a helmet on too but it'll mess with the tin foil,

In all seriousness for me it depends on the kit I'm wearing and wiith some kits if I want the added weight of a carrier.
Best bet if you want one is get one with pals and you're good to go with a carrier and a modular rig all in one instead of it getting bulky from layering gear on gear.

True, but the milsim part of me demands separate parts. The all-purpose chest pieces are good for the individual, but from what I hear in the bigger picture they don't work that well.

Yep, you bet. Been doing so for 3 years now and I love it. The reason I wear one is for looks - I've based my kit around some SEAL pics I like. I find that if your armor is fitted properly, after awhile you don't even notice it at all, much like what happens once you've worn football or hockey pads for a time.

Seeing as there is no tactical advantage to wearing it, I wear replica stuff (it's lighter) although I do have some authentic body armor that I would wear if there was ever rules that encorporated it.

A benefit I've noticed about wearing body armor is that contrary to popular belief, it actually aids you in identifying if you've been hit - it makes a very loud THWAPP sound.

Carrier, without plates for me!

Of course, that's for when I actually make it to a game...

That DB and we need a pretty boy on the field and you always take such sweet pictures :P

As for myself, dont really see a need for it in airsoft, then again I'm one of the large players out there so I have the all natural man armour (aka FAT) to protect my tender spots. But if they made a kit that looked cool enough with the armour aspect then most likely I'd pick it up for the looks for picture days and such, but I dont know about actual game play unless like DB said it was built into the game and had a purpose.
