first off I don't know what SCW stands for. I have a plastic SCW (I think) that is identical looking the the pic at the top. It has YONEZAWA MADE IN JAPAN COPYRIGHT 1985 ASGK is also printed very small near the back. It was a springer I've had since about '86 that broke. I crazyglued the slide on and used silver nailpolish to cover the black plastic chamber cover. It's magazine is stick thin, whole gun is light feeling like a toy. Anyway just wondering if anyone has/owns/uses an old gun like this? Thanks for any help

Uh... definitely not SCW, as SCW is WA's name for their gas/trigger/blowback system.

^ like above
Originally (as far as I know) MGC used to make GBB pistols, and Western Arms did the "fancy aftermarket" stuff ... Then Western Arms bought a bunch of licences, and "Magna Blowback" became a common thing for their guns, and "Shibuya Custom Works" started doing the "fancy aftermarket" stuff on WA... And I guess now SCW and WA sortof go hand in hand... Either that or MGC put WA's "Magna Blowback" in a few of their guns, went under, and Western Arms wound up doing alot more business... But Shibuya Custom Works started out (AFAIK) doing aftermarket mods and custom guns built around WA pistols, and I guess it was good stuff, so WA kept it going. Corrections??? |

OMG, I'm sorry.
Old thread, but I did a quick search, doesn't look like too many have jumped on the SCW ver.3 bandwagon... Any owners want to comment? I'm really keen on their new (old style) 1911 magna-tech V.3. It looks really nice. And it's about the price of a Marui, which means I can almost afford to run it on propane till it kicks it, then slap parts on it. Buuuut.... not knowing what's what, and what's new, I don't want to buy one. |

i found a review of the magnatech from justpistols.co.uk
but magnatech's and scw's are not the same gun, internally, i think. i always looked at the magnatech line as the economy version that wa is branching out to. scw 3's have a "high-speed steal pack" (from redwolf) which i do not know what that means. a sidenote- i have a scw3 s&w 1911sc and it cannot handle propane, as i bravely tried once. it jams simmilar to a ksc m11 in that extra bbs come out of the mag and wedge itself between the chamber and the loading nozzle area. the effect is that the slide cant come back and must be cleared before firing. i guess the plus side of owning a magnatech is that it cost less to go full metal (than traditional wa guns) edit- it seems many retailers are calling the cheaper wa's scw3 magnatech, so i don't know what to believe now |
