Phantom MOLLE CMS-PC Modular Vest and AK Magazine Pouches
Does anyone have these? If so, do the AK pouches hold 2 mags in each pouch, or just one? The picture looks like it might be thick enough to hold 2, but it's crumpled flat so hard to say for sure, and the white background doesn't give much in the way of size reference.
As far as the CMS-PC Modular vest goes I'm wondering what the maximum sizing is? I realize it's adjustable, but I'm a big fella and some one-size-fits-all stuff is too snug or too short. I'm 6' 4'' and weigh 350 lbs. Would this fit me? My chest is 54" around and my belly (unfortunately, ;-)) is 58" around. I don't want to spend $180 only to find out it doesn't fit. This would be the first vest I've bought and I'm not too familliar with the adjustability, so any info would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching the forums to see if anyone mentioned this and didn't find anything. I tried e-mailing the ASC Armoury 3 weeks ago and still haven't got a response so I thought I'd try posting a message, thanks! |

Dunno which pouches you're referring to, or if it's pouches that come with the Phantom plate carrier (usually they're m16-style pouches), but BHI makes AK-specific mag pouches (3 mags per, in double and triple pouch config, so 6 and 9 mag capacity respectively) for their STRIKE line.
double: http://www.entrygear.com/product.asp?id=37CL34ALL triple: http://www.entrygear.com/product.asp?id=37CL05ALL If you're looking for something less expensive, 204Tactical has some pouches for 2 AK mags each.

Oh and as far as the sizing goes... I remember seeing cummerbund extensions for real vests, but don't remember who made them or what they were called, so maybe someone else can help you with that.

I wouldn't really recommend the CMS-PC, it is a smaller piece of gear - it's fully adjustable though, so it may technically fit, but I'm not sure you're going to be thrilled with how it looks and feels.
That's just my opinion though. We've had some husky goes come through the store and I just don't see the CMS-PC working out for them, although it's a good value piece of gear. 1 word: Silverthrone. |

The PC would work if you also got a MOLLE or I/O belt. you could work up a mean first line rig.

Thanks for the replies so far. The AK mag pouches I was talking about were also from Phantom. They're on the ASCA website here:
http://www.ascarmoury.com/product_in...roducts_id=384 What about the Phantom RAV Plate Carrier? I want something MOLLE, because I haven't played an outdoor game yet and don't know what I'd need. I figured a MOLLE system would let me customize as I go. I was looking at the RAV first, but noticed for an extra $10 I could get a bunch of pouches with the CMS-PC. I don't mind having to build from the ground up, my main concern is getting something that will fit comfortably and be adatable so I could customize it as I get more involved in the sport and get a clearer understanding of what gear I would need. |

Well, the armor or plate carrier is up to you... but if you check out the reviews (there's a good thread on the CIRAS) you'll find the general concensus is ditch the Phantom pouches and get real ones.
So I'd say it probably doesn't matter that much if you're getting armor without pouches included. The real ones are a bit more expensive but they'll last. Specially for stuff like mag pouches, which are maybe subject to more wear from having mags put in and pulled out over and over. You don't want something that'll start getting cut up and frayed after a few months. Also you may want to just go out and try someone else's stuff on and see how it fits, if you can find someone in your neck of the woods.
