Don't mean to thread jack, but here's the deal with Magpul PTS mags:
I followed a thread in a US forum (I don't recall off the top of my head where) this debate played out and ended with one of the guys emailing the president of Magpul, who replied and stated that a company in China has licensed the name and been given Magpuls blessing to produce airsoft Mags under their name. The rubber part of the Ranger plate is identical in every way to the RS, I can verify this because I have the real ones and some Magpul 'PTS' mags. Ranger plates for hi-cap mags are produced as well with a slot on the bottom for the winding wheel. The PTS mags are made in China and very much resemble stock Marui mags (68rnds) and have the real ranger plate on them, but all airsoft manufactured Ranger plates feature a thinner plastic locking guide (holds the Ranger Plate from sliding off the bottom of the mag) than the RS ones. My personal experience with these is that they are too thin and bend/break easily and don't really do their job as well as standard Ranger plates. I've reinforced mine with a paper clip for rigidity which seems to work. All that is required to use the RS Ranger plates is too file down the bottom of the plastic inside Marui mags a bit so the thicker RS plastic locking guide can fit in there. Just be careful not to file too much or you'll expose the BB track. Bottomline - Magpul manufactures and licenses out its name for airsoft; and why not, its becoming a huge market for tactical gear.

Magpul (surprisingly) does have a strong involvement in airsoft, and like their real steel products are finished to perfection.

After seeing Hammers SAW, I know that a gun by Hammer is good shit. Love the PTW, and I'm impressed that you used the MRE kit. After seeing the below PTW witht he MRE, I fell inlove. http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/7679/ptw223vs.jpg |

Well, Illusion and I are both saying Magpul mags are legit, though we differ on our opinions on quality. If you get the chance, open one of the PTS mags and compare the plastic locking guide to the RS version. They made them thinner to properly fit in an unmodified TM lo-cap design (instead of redesigning the low cap housing inside) the result is the guides break very easily. My buddy was poking and prodding a PTS and upon inspection accidentally snapped the guide simply by pressing on the tab that locks the plate in place. I ended up just buying RS ranger plates and filing a bit off the bottom of the plastic housings down in TM lo-caps and prefer the result. Its also worth mentioning that while TM lo-caps fit fine in my MRP, the PTS mags don't fit at all. I'm sure its because the mag catch on the bestgun kit sits about a mm higher than on a standard TM gun, but the slot on the PTS also seems to sit a fraction of a smidge lower than on the stock Marui to boot which means I must file them to play (which I haven't done yet). The metal seems a bit thicker on the PTS, I'll say that much, but other than a real ranger plate bottom on there, you might as well get TM los and RS ranger plates in my opinion. I wanted to be impressed by the PTS, I paid extra for that right and I was when the packaging arrived at my door, but as their shortcomings have been revealed I see them as just different made-in-China mags, not better. EDIT - The RS ranger plate sits fine on my modded TM mag as can be seen in my recent thread in this section.

I have to say, it looks better now after your paint job. The Systema logo would have made me consider to do the same thing. Can you describe what you used and how you got such a rugged look with your paint job?

KG3 - Thats a Noveske Old Style repro.
PiRaTe - I used (the now discontinued) HS Bowflage. Marsh Grass, OD and a touch of Black. The idea of painting weapons (as i see it) is to make it look "field painted". That gives it the feeling i want. I started with the Marsh Grass and sprayed diagonal lines, and continued on with Olive Drab. I tried to paint it not to cover the whole weapon 100%, of course alot of the paint covered the areas, but not everywhere. Then i used the OD on the Tan areas i wanted to darken, as well as the rest of the weapon. I then used the Black can to darken some of the areas, a little here and there - but i tried to be carefull with the distance so it wouldn't look "black". I also used it on the Flashhider to try to make it look like it's been fired.
