TM/Guarder SiG P226 w/real steel grips.

I'm slow to get this pic out. I'd asked for a little guidance on this topic ages ago but nonetheless, here it is:

TM P226 based
Guarder metal frame, slide, outer barrel and spring upgrade
Nineball ball bearing spring guide
KM 6.04 inner barrel
Pachmayr P226 grips (real steel)

To avert the obvious question, the grips were a labour of love. A lot of grinding, filing, cutting and cursing. I didn't own a dremel when I started this job and it would have helped a bit, but mostly it was grinding. The screws that came with the grips didn't fit, so with a lot of force, I was able to squish the rubber down a bit so the stubby little TM screws could find a thread. They can't be more than 2-3 threads seated, but the pressure of the grip pressing against it keeps them tight, no worries thus far. The hammer release requires a little manual nudge to get back to the fully upright position after use, but it functions normally. Had to cut away some of the rubber inside the grip there to allow for the mechanism to operate. Other than that, I'm pleased with the look and the feel is 10x better than the plastic crap. I'm happy.

The NineBall spring guide comes with a little metal insert that took a little convincing to seat in the Guarder metal slide, but it went and is a noteable improvement. The action on this particular part is quite nice.

Nothing special. I just focus deeply on one main interest at a time... the rest of my life suffers hehe. Maybe we could start a real security company. Nobody needs to know its all airsoft except us

I was going to automatically say yes to that question, but I just looked to double check and no is the answer. I have a vague memory that there was something to do with that in the packaging... shoot, now I have to try and find it.

Like yourself, I too have a Safariland holster (thx illusion) and it sits a bit tight in there - meaning it'll never be unholstered unwillingly anyways, though that would look tight.

Damn, I hadn't thought of that. Now I want a lanyard too! Its like those classic horror/thriller movies where after the bullets don't stop the monster, the protagonist throws the gun at it - and retains it!

That looks outstanding!

What paint/technique did you use on the frame?

Also, would you have a copy of that art in 1280x1024 or higher? That would make a wicked backdrop.

I was wondering the same since I might end up having to use that technique.

I had an opportunity to buy it preassembled from UNcompany for cheaper than the stock TM and Guarder kit bythemselves, plus they painted it the way I wanted. I worked from that and added the Guide rod, inner barrel and Pachmayr grips and the result looks and performs quite well I think. AFAIK, UNco spraypainted the disassembled Guarder stainless kit. Thanks for your comments.

I have a 2592x1944 version here
