That's a huge variance in FPS...

260-340?

Don't believe everything you read on retail sites.

yea, i was kinda wondering about that. would it just be more accurate to mod the M14 socom to an M1 garand instead of the regular M14? the socom looks closer to the size of the garand, but you'd obviously have to switch to a wood stock.

I'm so confused the Garand is father of the M14 models... So, what does size has to matter at all? M14 SOCOM is just shorten M14.

The M14 is a bit different than the SOCOM 16, not many options if you try to mod it. The only difference would be the synthetic stock, shorter barrel, and rails. If you can get a custom piece of wood shaped to replace the top handguard of the M14, longer barrel, and mess with the mag well then you'd have the Garand. Or you can just buy a gas 8mm airsoft one.

lol sorry for my confusion. what i meant was to me, the outer barrel on the m14 socom looks more like the garand's then the regular M14. but like |:XAS:| Bravo said, you'd still have to make the top handguard change, rail change and convert to a wood stock, but i guess it wouldn't be easier then the custom kit billy is using on his M14

just wondering... ive heard quite a bit about m14's being a bit tight for most batteries.. what are the dimensions of a battery that can fit into the gun.. ive been told only 8.4 can fit.. but then i heard there are 1 or 2 9.6 that can fit.. and it seems as tho in every battery description, the dimensions are different, so what is the MAX dimensions usable.. thx.

here's a PM I got from someone who just posted a review on Arnies:

"Funny question to ask, The M14 SOCOM takes large type batteries as well as the mini types so a large 9.6v will fit. I use the 9.6v Killer by Giga Tec which is one cell smaller than the Sanyo Eagle Force, It will rattle a little so I used some packing foam to keep it from bouncing around inside."
