Yeah a 7.2V or 8.4V is more than plenty for a stock gun. I use a 7.2V exclusively in my M249 even with upgrade springs but I run a high end pack that is charged very precisely to get the most juice out of it. I'm always satisfied with the ROF.
I've seen your video, 8.4v is more than adequate.
Trick is 8.4v are usually easier and cheaper to find.

The more mAh the longer your battery lasts.

I have a stock gun and my 1400 mAh NiMH battery lasts me 2 games typically, and I carry 16 low cap mags.

If you start upgrading you'll need more juice to power your gun. In general though unless you've got huge upgrades and a tendancy towards high caps a 1200-14400 mAh mini battery is usually enough for most people.

7.2V are cheaper than 8.4V packs at any decent retailer because its one cell less. Its only the airsoft retailers that overcharge for "specialty" battery packs.

I beg to differ. 7.2V are far easier to find than any 8.4V; go into any RC hobby store and they'll have far more 7.2V as that's what RC cars use. A few of them now like Eliminator R/C are beginning to carry 8.4V packs at the request of airsofters.

You're also paying for 7 cells versus 6 so I fail to see how they're any cheaper, unless you're buying a generic no-name pack with average cells.

I was referring to our favorite asian online store.
They typically only stock 8.4v and up, so if I wanted a 7.2 I'd have to go out of my way and pay more to get it.
