M870 pistol grip?
So I have a tanaka m870 full stock on the way and I would like to be able to switch between a full stock and pistol grip. So I was wondering if anybody knows if there are any grips out there for m870s. Thanks in advance for any help.

Since the Tanaka ones don't carry gas in the stock and/or pistol grip, I would assume that anything that fits the Maruzen CA870 or M870/1100 (if you cut out the gas tube) would probably fit on the Tanaka.
For example, some Clarence Lai customs on redwolf: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22069 http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22187 They're both Tanaka base, but appear to have CA870 stocks mounted. Failing that, real steel stocks may be compatible. Here's my old thread on the M1100. I'm not sure if it'll help, but it may give you some idea of the compatibility of parts. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=34585

yeah, I had seen the clarence lai customs, so you figure they use maruzen grips? Guess I'll have to find somebody thats hacked one of their CA870s apart.

I just noticed you're in Calgary...
Depending on what sort of time line you're on with this, I'm changing my M1100 revision's pistol grip to an M4 style grip/collapsible stock. If you'd like to try it out to see if it fits, we can probably arrange something (after May - that's when I expect all my parts to arrive). I'm not 100% on Tanaka/Maruzen compatibility, but on Redwolf, the descriptions for the stocks are identical so I would assume that it's a G&P M870 (designed for the CA870) stock on that custom Tanaka. From the CA870 EBR style stock: "Made from Aluminum 6063, Steel & PA6 + 10% GF, this 6 position extended buttstock..." From the custom Tanaka: "made from Aluminum 6063, Steel & PA6 + 10% GF. This 6-position extendable stock..." I'm not sure if this means they're the same stock (same materials and model, maybe different mounting design?) but it certainly seems that way.

yeah, does your m1100 have the gas chamber in the grip? I wouldn't think that'd be a problem though if it does. So if I haven't found a grip by may i'll definitely hit ya up about it.
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22068 I'm quite curious as to what grip they are using for this one, cause thats just a beauty. Last edited by Greg666; March 12th, 2007 at 19:25.. |

Yes, there is a gas chamber in the grip, but it still mounts the same way as the CA870 (and presumably, the Tanaka M870). There is a large screw in the back which secures the grip to a mount on the receiver. The only difference is that the Maruzen M- series also has a gas tube sticking out, which can be cut off if it's in the way. I know the Maruzen M870/1100 and CA870 stocks mount the same way, as there are after market stocks that are compatible with both. I'm just not sure if it will fit the Tanaka one as well.
