Matching Cylinder w/ barrel
I wanted to get a 590mm tightbore for my gun (with a barrel extension), and i was wondering how i would match it. Are cylinders just ported and unported or do they need to be matched to length? I looked through a couple pages and i couldn't find a straightforward answer.
Guess i was searching the wrong thing, Barrel suck? Edit: okay from what i've read anything longer than 590mm creates barrel suck? should i just get a 550mm barrel? Last edited by krap101; July 27th, 2007 at 05:03.. |

40mm won't make an insane difference. What was the original barrel lenght? It's important to provide as much background information (gun manufacturer, model, current setup, etc) as you can with specific questions like these else we can't help you.
http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=18038 Read up Madmax' post, And contact Illusion for parts. Between the both of them, you should be ok. Oh, and if you prefer not opening the mechbox, Illusion also did work on boxes las time I checked. |

Type 0 Cylinder. Meaning no ports and should be closed type. I use to have this kind of set up which is 590mm(6.03mm) and 600mm(6.02mm) inner barrel with Type 0 Cylinder. No issues.

Threadjack.
I'm getting a TM AUG and am wondering if just throwing a longer barrel in there would be ok. It has an original 509mm inner barrel, but it has an extended outer barrel. |

Well, I might. Not sure until I get the gun.

That tells you which cylinder(s) you can use for whatever inner barrel length you're using.

But not for barrels > 550 mm.

How does it not?

As a side note that I've noticed: it seems to only work up to around M130 or M140 springs. Velocity higher than that may require a Bore Up cylinder kit. |

well my original barrel was 390mm off a BE metal gearbox xm8. i want to add a 195 mm barrel extension.. because imo short silencers are ugly. I'm not totally sure how a xm8 with a silencer would look, since it seem there are absolutely no pics of xm8's with silencers. Ima go have a look rainbow six, since you can put a silencer on an xm8 :P
