Mod a tanaka m870??
Hello all,
Ok so here is the scoop, I have been working for the past 2 weeks on trying to figure out how to correctly modify my Tanaka m870 shotgun to allow it to use the CL custom slug shot or buckshot shells. I have removed the inner barrel no problem, I have taken the gun apart several times, but the issue I am faced with is the outer barrel, it would see the piece I need to get at is inside it and I have no clue how to remove the outer barrel. It doesn’t seem like one piece but I can find any pins that are holding it in place either. The reason why I need to get the outer barrel off of the main chamber is for two reasons: 1. inside the barrel is a piece that is either not supposed to be in there for using the custom shells, or need to be modified 2. Removing the outer barrel will allow me to remove the front grip piece and replace it with an upgraded version. What I would like to know is if there is anyone out there who has figured out my problem, or if there is some one who owns a custom redwolf tanaka m870 and would be ever so kind as to explain how the inside of the barrel looks. I thank any and all in advance for any help that could be rendered, THANK YOU! ~novacat17 |

Not many people have the Tanaka M870, and as for the slugshot it seems as Clarence Lai of AirsoftSurgeon does it all himself before sending it out from RedWolf, I doubt he'd disclose his workings to the public. Hmmm how are you finding that gun, I'm thinking of getting the folding stock version myself.

gun is awesome, i got my self an advanced tactical folding stock for mine, it looks really nice. It does require more care than some guns, but i dont mind, well worth it. Also it is on the heavy side, but should be expected since it is mostly metal.
I would recomend getting the gun, and if you can afford it get the CL upgrade, since so far trying to do it myself has gotten me no where. The power is ok, but the CL buckshot rounds are what makes this thing pretty awesome, i havent fired them in the gun but i did set one off and it gives a big blast of CBQ goodness! IF you do order a custom redwolf one let me what the inside of the barrel looks like! lol I'm getting desperate! |

on the underside of the barrel, about 3" from the recevier there should be a black pin that hold the barrel in place. If it is already loose then your job is easy, (pair of tweezers or something may get it out) but if it is stuck in there then i'm not sure how to get it out because it sits flush with the barrel.

LOL i took that pin out a week ago, and the barrel still wont come off! i dont want to try and yank it off, cause i dont want to break the gun, btw cant get into see the pics you linked im not a member of arnies and every time i try to join my user and password dont work! strange
so if i take out the pin do i just pull off the outer barrel? |

yea, from what i remember, it should just slide out. maybe try twisting it or wiggling it gently, but dont try to bend it at any angle because there is a plastic cylindrical piece that sticks out of the reciever (3-4 or so inches) and is covered by the barrel.

ok so i got the barrel off and im looking at the crazy plastic part that holds the shell, now does anyone know what the inside of a CL custom one looks like? The whole piece that holds the shell must have been changed... hmm wonder how i could do it...
any thoughts? |
