Tanaka Gas Shell Question

Since this forum is apparently the only one with Tanaka Gas Shotgun users, could you help me out a little? I would like to know how these work exactly. Can you fill the back of the shells without extra tools? Do they go off by pressing the pin in the back? Anything will help. I have a project and need to know these. Thank you.

gas is loaded from the back, shell positioned upright ( as SOP of all gas mags). you have to use the special tool (four prong plastic cylinder thing) to keep the release valve from opening. the back consist of a firing pin slightly recessed in the shell (where the primer would be located) and within it is the fill valve. pushing the firing pin in the back releases the gas, similar to airsoft gas grenade shells. if you have a arnies airsoft account, there is a review in the readers review section of the forum with pictures of the shell, tool and how to load.

No that's why the shells are so fricking expensive .. I own a Tanaka M870 and I've got 20 shells coming in within the next few days. You need that four pronged cylinder otherwise it won't fill properly ie. gas comes out or in a rare case a BB will shoot out LOL

When I get my camera back and pickup my shells I'll do a review with pictures & videos. It's definitely worth the buy ....well I don't know about in Canada cause a real Remington 87 is only $345!!!!

So, I am guessing the four prong tool only comes with the shotgun or is there another way of getting it?

It comes with it, otherwise it's difficult unless you know someone in Japan.
