MP5 RAS
Ok so my friend is getting in Airsoft. He fell in love with the MP5 RAS. Now i have 2 options:
Get a TM MP5 RAS Get a ISC MP5 + RAS front handguard (does that make it through customs, i think so...) (http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...sp?prodid=4631) What do you guys suggest? I was told ICS MP5's > TM MP5's... he basically just wants 350fps max so he can also play indoors... I'm new to the MP5 world so if you guys know *things* that are not stated in the almighty searches i have done on ASC and Google, feel free to tell me If anyone is selling a MP5 RAS or MP5 or.. well you get the idea, PM me as it doesn't belong in the U&M topic Thank You! |

the handguard will make it through for sure, no questions asked. That being said, if its just for indoor stuff and whatnot. get the TM as they are more reliable and have a load of upgrades for down the road stuff.

Any experience with the metal body of the ICS and the plastic body of the TM? So far i'm NOT impresseved by the quality of the TM plastic... but never actually used/handle a MP5... btw the real one is metal or plastic?
Edit: Oh and this will be his primary gun so he will also use it outside. |

ive used a TM gun for a game. i thought the plastic would be grap but it actually surpassed my expecations. so long as you dont plan on running into walls are using your gun as a door stop, your fine. That being said, the TM has a shitload of upgrades. get the the full mp5 meatal kit from 007airsoft.
here is the link: http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/metalparts.htm sorry, but i have no exp. with ICS, but i have heard they are not bad. the stock TM mp5 is your best bet for indoor stuff though. dont even have to upgrade the body. |

I have the TM MP5 RAS and out of all my guns this thing is bone stock and just a killer... I love it, I know that it will never fail and it has killer groupings at 50' for such a small barrel. I would totally suggest it

With a stock MP5 RAS there is much higher ability to power the thing. I used to get an easy 1000rds out of a 8.4V 600mAh mini battery. When I upgraded it to 350fps, I'd get maybe 300rds out of it. Point being, upgrading it will require a larger battery to have any kind of endurance (unless you want to carry a few minis around all day). There IS the Intellect 8.4V 1400mAh battery in a mini package though, which I've used all day in my 365fps MP5 (take note, I have two different MP5s), but I must have gotten a bad cell in it as I only had it for about 6 months and used for shooting at home and testing, then a couple games.
Another thing, within two months of my first MP5 being at 350fps, the mechbox broke. I bought a Hurricane reinforced mechbox and got a good two years out of it before that damned PDI 150% spring busted it. Now I'm waiting for another reinforced mechbox and have a Prometheus 120 spring ot install. Try pointing him towards the TM MP5K PDW,it has the same type of stock as the RAS, shorter front end (which I'm sure one could buy an A model front end and other parts to put on the body to make a RAS), but the K and PDW have Version 3 mechboxes, not the Version 2 mechboxes of the larger MP5s. No, I meant buy an A front end, complete front end (like I did to make my A into an SD), not just a longer tube and grip.

Or just get a TM motor, something like the EG700, which isn't as whiny as the EG1000 and still has a very fast spin rate.

Less shit to worry about in the future too. I've heard ICS motors suck ass.
