Shiming
Do you have to use say an airsoft brand type of shim for my kraken? or can I use my R/C shims they seem to be the right size. Not quite sure need some help on this one.

You could probably use any small metal shim-like pieces, as long as they're thin enough to work properly, or the right thickness if they're thicker. Just don't want em too thick so that they jam up the gears.

Lots of stuff is http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=49032 also...
Links to resources and retailers and whatnot... a little easier than going through a bunch of google results. As helpful as it is, I'm not a big fan of online search engines and whatnot... too many unreliable sites out there feeding you bullshit, whereas the links thread there has pages people here have used and verified as helpful.

I want to bring this one back up to the top for a bit. I'm hoping to get some of you experienced gun docs to add links relating to shimming helical gear sets. I've done some searching and haven't found anything significant. If you can at least throw up some tips and things to watch out for as well, it would be appreciated.
Cheers. |

Why? shimming helical gears is the same as shimming regular gears.
Make sure the gears don't rub together, make sure they dont hit the bushings/bearings, and make sure it doesnt squish the tappet plate against the mechbox, just like regular gears. |
