Upgrading VFC SCAR

Since this gun is so new, is there any parts that will go in?

Is the SCAR using a brand new mech box or a perticular version?

Thanks

The VFC scar houses a V.2 gearbox.

V2 with a functional ambidexterious selector switch though... which is a pain in the ass to get off! 1.5 mm allen key is apparently what you will need (not a standard size)

so anything that goes into a v2 mech box. The selector switch is just a pain in the ass to remove to get to the box?

Thats odd, I have a 1.5mm allen in all my metric sets. Are you sure its not the stupid hard to find 1.27mm?

Also I thought I read that the SCAR has a custom nozzle, slightly longer than a normal M4 one.

It very well could be. another user on here told me that it was 1.5mm. All I know is that its smaller than the smallest one in your average allen key set.

Word to the wise though, once you go into the gearbox... make sure you have a guide handy for putting it back together. putting the selector switch unit back together is a HUGE pain in the ass. there are grooves on the disc , selector switch, and the selector gear thingy, so that does help a lot. but gear-tooth placement is essential.

I never understood why they have to make screws, to essential parts, such a struggle to work with.

Size is a Standard (as in US standard) size: 0.05"

It is the same as a 1.27mm.

That is not hard to find, you just have to look at the right places.

How many bushing is in there (probly the same with all v2 box but I'm a noob when it comes to internals)

I was thinking about:
deepfire 7mm bearing bushings
deepfire titanium piston full teeth
Modify Enhanced Cylinder Head - V2 double 0-ring (don't know about their quality if anyone have another sugesstion for this part please let me know)
And a soboro pad for the cylinder head to decrease impact force.

How does this sound for my first internal upgrade. I'm not really think power but I could throw a precision barrel in there but don't know what diameter is recomended?

feedback appreciated

Thanks

Metal bushings, no need for bearings unless you plan on making a lazer gun.

Keep original piston. The more weight you add to your gun, the more work your motor must do and the more wear/impact force you apply on the mechbox.

Cylinder head can be good, but again, not a must. Repalcing the nylon one with an alloy one will add extra stress to the mechbox because it won't absorb the shock. You should change the piston head for a polycarbonate/POM head instead.

Don't put anything on the piston head. If you really want to add padding, place it on the cylinder head. It won't make a lot of change anyways.

You can add an air seal nozzle. Helps keeping the air inside.

The money you saved on useless upgrades can be spent on a DeepFire 6.04 tightbore instead. It will make a drastic difference in accuracy and grouping.

Oops sorry its not actually full titanium
piston body is poly/non-metal and the gear teeth is metal coated with titanium.

Metal cylinder head should be alright since I'm removing the rubber padding and replacing it with the Soboro foam padding thats been advertersied by one of our member here, 94% reduction in impact force at leas thats what the creators are claiming.

Until I can confrim if the VFC Scar usues specially designed nozzle I stay away from it. if not I'll get one with O-Ring on it.

Thanks for the reply Kos-Mos.

Still

You DONT need full metal teeth piston.

If you are racking a 500+ fps spring, you can use a 7 teeth one, but full is just a wast of weight.

It also makes the psiton weaker and a lot more prone to failure. The metal insert takes the place of the plastic of the piston, so you end up with an incomplete tube. The piston is as resistant to impact as a sheet of plain plastic.

Because the piston can and will flex, the teeth rack will get miss aligned and can cause gear damage.

It will also cause accelerated wear on the gears. I don't know for you, but I prefer changing a 15$ piston once every 3 years than a 85$ set of gears every year.

You will also suffer a very slight loss of FPS, since the piston is not accelerating as fast because of it's weight. Maybe 5 fps, but still there.

IF you REALLY want to change the piston, go for a Systema one. They are known for long life and very little failure.

Humm... Good point I never thought about that, I guess I forgot to take into account that plastic gives a little while metal a lot less. Black Systema polymer piston would be fine tho correct?

I'm Trying to build a SCAR that will last me a long time with out failures, but I guess you have to open your box from time to time to check it it. Thats why I'm staying away from power upgrade, I need reliablity

Whats the difference between half and full teeth? more teeth or wider teeth or something elese?

Thanks Again

if you want a SCAR that will last a while, then dont open the gearbox at all and keep it stock. it will last a lot longer like that than if you do any upgrades.

Theres ppl who have been using TM guns stock for over 5 years without having to open it up once.
