Tokyo Marui FAMAS G2

Hey, Im just interested in this gun. I like the FAMAS and am curious to see if any of you have come across one in you experience with AEG's, and if you could shine some insight on it. I have read reviews but am indecisive. I think it hits the price point, but until ken is available im stuck secound guessing myself.

I also am wanting a side arm, some glock, but again not knowing exactly whats availble is a problem, I am waiting to get age verified so I can browse the buy/sell forums.

Thanks alot.

Brett

I bought the Famas and like it. I don't use it as much as my SIG but over all it's a pretty alright gun to have. You can't up grade it as easily as most other guns as it's one of TM's first (I believe) so it's also a bit of a pain to find replacement parts for it.

It's a bit rear heavy but when shouldering it that's not a problem.

The fire select is a bit of a pain but what do you want for a bullpup.

Basically, if you want something that you're going to upgrade the shit out of, Famas isn't the best idea.
If you want something to start out with and you're just going to game with it, then go for it. It's a good gun out of the box and nice and compact.

I had a FA-MAS F1, I really liked it. Internally it's exactly the same as the FA-MAS SV. The 'MAS is the oldest AEG design and is thus a bit of a bitch to work on, it's not really designed to be upgraded. That's not to say it can't be, it's just not easy or fun to do. There are also almost no accessories for it.

I like the guns but they seem like there is too much plastic.

Almost the entire gun is ABS. With some simple modifacation it doesn't creak and it's fairly sturdy. Because it's small it doesn't flex like larger rifles (M16, G3, etc.)

Honestly a great gun. Excellent for woodland games where running through trees with a long rifle could mean catching a tree with your barrel or what have you. You have the barrel length of a rifle, in a carbine sized gun.
I haven't used it in CQB but I would imagine it's just as useful.

The gun itself is a hose and if you don't have to take it apart then don't. Nothing really needs to be done with it to make it gameable.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, the real "steel" FA-MAS is mostly plastic anyway. So the realism is already there.

personally dude i wouldn't buy the famas as it is not easy to upgrade...... now you DON'T NEED an upgraded gun, but you live in alberta and with almost everyone running 400fps+ you may feel that you need a gun that can be upgraded easily

I really can't say how many famas posts there are on this forum, but haha, I have one love it but if its your first gun, get a v2 or v3 Gearbox there so much easier in the long run, Fams good gun, lacks after market parts, and external upgrades unless you feel safe doing custom work. But overall, gun shoots far for like 280fps, accurite, feels kinda flimsy but can take a beating. High ROF eh not so much anymore, a simple gear or motor swap can make any gun higher.

Seeing this gun and holding this gun are completely different stories. I think the gun is sexy, but the minute I held it for the first time I gave it back to the owner...plastic...too much plastic and creaking! I think I'll check out some other full metal bullpup rifles instead, although I'm disappointed that the FAMAS isn't how I had imagined it.

The only full metal bullpup would be the l85 and its still not full metal, the aug is plastic too, the famas is a plastic complosite in real steel also.

Out of the box it's a hose, holding true to its RS version. My SIG's ROF is lower as is my M16's. It was just a quality that i was listing, pro or con was left up to Brett6mm to decide.

The battery is a bit tedious to get in and out, but with a large battery you don't generally have to worry about changing up in the middle of a game.

In terms of deciding, you make the choice. As a first gun, it's pretty alright. A bit lopsided (like I said) but all round pretty robust. If you want something you can upgrade go for an M4 or an MP5 or the short version of the G36 (not a G36 guy so I don't know the varients....G36c perhaps?). Or even a SIG. All short carbine/SMG sized guns and you can upgrade and mod both quite easily.

Other than size, looks, and mag capacities they all do the same thing at around the same performance when they're stock

Yea, just echoing what Fly 9 said -if it's upgrades and mods you're interested in, don't get a FA-MAS. If you don't mind keeping a gun stock and want something that performs well and is fun to game, by all means get a MAS.

if you are interested in upgrading a famas go to arnies and look for dilberty, hes pretty much an expert on the gun and helped me with what was needed to fully upgrade my famas. also the only real after markets parts you can get for the mas is a rail system for the top.
