PTW M4A1 Wiring

The 08 PTW MAX M4A1 stock tube wiring that goes to the battery is the telephone coiled type. I need it straight and cut to size for my lipo with a mini black plug in front (and not the standard big white one's).

So anyone knows how to do that? The coiling is (i'm thinking!) coming from the black plastic around the +/-???

Any help appreciated, heck if someone in Montreal can do this neatly (we are talking about $300ish of electronics afterall) PM me and theirs some easy money for you!

My goal is simple: Less wiring in the stock tube so the lipo sticks in better!

I can't tell but I've taken apart wiring like that for other electronic things. You can usually take an X-acto blade and very carefully make a slit in the coiled black covering at the conncector end. Imagine cuting a slit into a bananna and peeling the skin away.

If the plastic housing isn't bonded to the wiring, you should be able to pull all of the coiled housing off leaving the insulated wires intact.

Yes i'm thinking of trying that.

Also, what do i need to change the big white plug to the little white one? Any specific tools or its simply take off the big one and put the small one?

You would cut the plug off (I usually leave a bit of wiring so it can be spliced and reused elsewhere), strip a bit of insulation off the end of the remaining "live" wires, and attach a new plug. If the new plug comes pre-wired, just solder and heat shrink.

un solder the wire from the board and solder new wire in its place very simple, just cut the plastic cover that wraps around the circut board to gain access to the wire solder points. i was thinking of exstending the fuse from the board to the battery aswell to make it easyer to gain access to you might want to do that to.

1. Cut coiled wire from assembly, leaving a short "pigtail" length
2. Solder new wire to existing wire
3. Cover w/ heatshrink tubing
4. Repeat procedure to put small connector on end of wiring

You don't seem to have any experience when it comes to electronic repair. Suggest you find someone local who can do this for you

Why do you need to cut it?

Some guys just do a wiring adaptor. Just search through the systema forum. I know I saw a guy there who just used an adaptor

I have experience, i'm just weary of doing this to a +$300 electronic board
I haven't soldered in awhile but i saw that i don't even need too. I can just use the small clamp attachments for it.

Got all the stuff done just need to sit down and do it, PTW is like 95% done, just missing its new mini plug and a shell door that is MIA.

Why not convert it to deans while you're in there?

Much smaller connector that gives you a much better connection.

Even connectors that are crimped to the wire are usually soldered as well. Crimps are usually only good for "assisting" in the solder stage by holding the two parts fast while one solders the connection. Typically any time a crimped connector ((co-axle and telephone connectors come to mind)) that do not require solder after usually require a specialized tool for such crimps.
