mandatory upgrades for real sword type 56?

id love to buy one of these aks but i have no clue how well this gun shots out of the box.
are there some parts that should be replaced?
if so which ones?

general opinion on this gun?

As for upgrades, the only necessary upgrade if you want the velocity is a stiffer spring. The mechbox and internals are all reinforced stock and beyond the quality of most stock guns, so there's really no need to do anything. The stock spring gives it 290-310 fps (varies a bit from gun to gun). Note that some internals are proprietary due to the modified (shorter) V3 mechbox, so standard V3 parts won't always work. I know the piston body and sector gear both have 1 tooth less than standard. I believe a couple of ther internals are RS-specific too.

If you want to keep the stock spring, then you should really change the hopup rubber. The stock rubber is very hard and really more suitable for a 400+ fps gun. With .2s, I have to put very little hopup adjustment in order to get the BBs to fly straight. With .25s and .28s (what I usually use in my AEGs), I barely have to nudge the hopup on. If you upgrade to a 370+ fps spring, the stock hopup rubber should be just fine.

Even with the stock rubber and this minute setting, I get absolutely stupid ranges with this thing. I can't even estimate how far the BB travels, because I lose sight of them before they start to drop.

u chose the longer and heavier type 56 instead of teh 56-1. did u regret it? i am still unsure with version i should take...

I went with the fixed stock because that's the AK look I like best. I don't care much for anything with a collapsable stock, really. I swapped the sliding stocks on both my HK416 and MP5 with full stocks for that very reason. So I think for me, it would be the 'better gun' in both feel and function. I don't regret my choice at all. And the gun is still compact enough IMO that I could use it in a CQB situation, although for that, the 56-1 would be better.

One way or another, my Type 56 is more of a collection piece than a gaming gun, which is why I didn't bother upgrading mine. I've gamed it 2 times briefly, but don't see myself slinging an AK when I can have my preferred Armalites and MP5 instead. While I love the look of an AK, its ergonomics leave a lot to be desired.

As for a spring, it depends what velocity you're going for. I tend to install the Prometheus MS110SP in my guns. It produces a nice 360-370 fps velocity, and with a tightbore, it brings it up to the 380-390, which is perfect. The Type 56 has a 6.05 mm barrel installed stock (I'm pretty sure that's what I read somewhere) vs a regular 6.08 barrel you usually get on a stock gun, so that should put the gun in the 380 range.

one last question: if i take the type 56 with full stock, what kind of batteries can i take? only stick-type?

With a full stock, your options should be open to pretty much everything.
9.6, 8.4 in mini batts easy and depending how wide the inside of that stock is you may even get a 9.6 subC set up in there as well.
Your options are pretty open.

Just an FYI ^ this is wrong for the realswords. their stocks could only fit an extra stick battery tops. it's pretty solid though you are able to fit a custom longer stick battery in it.

I just meant that it's not as easy as simply going down to your local store and picking one up. Especially so because he's not age verified yet.
