PTW + VLTOR or KA CASV M4 w/ Sytema Revolution
Hi all,
Please excuse the extreme newb post. Just met to get age verified and will be in a couple of days. Assuming that will allow me to procure an AEG, wanted to do some quick research. I was actually going to get my restricted license with my wife to do range shooting but since we found out you a) need your own gun and b) need to store it at home, those plans got thrown down the drain. She's not comfortable having real guns in the house with our kids (4 and 2). Understandable I guess. But I did have my heart set on a HK45C....:kill: So, the consolation prize was airsoft - something I used to do a lot of when I lived in Japan in the 90's...can't believe how far things have come... I really like the HK416 but it does not appear easy to get a nice full metal one these days. So, my next favorite is the VLTOR M4, pretty much exactly how King Arms makes theirs, except with the compatibility with an EOTECH 552 and other such genuine rail attachments (not sure if this is the case or not). For kicks, I'd also love to have a set of upgraded internals such as the Systema Revolution 170. Now, I'm going to get flamed for this I'm sure but I have no intention of using this for airsoft gaming (at least not right now); I just like to have the latest and greatest. So, here is the question, assuming money is not really part of the equation: Is it better to get a Systema PTW and fit a VLTOR VIS (and whatever else is required to replicate the look of the KA VLTOR CASV) Or Am I better off just buying the KA VLTOR CASV and upgrading the internals Please consider I am a complete newb and would need someone in the Toronto area to help me piece everything together. Thanks a lot, all and apologize in advance if I've offended anyone with my newbness. Any Metal Gear Online players on here by the way? |

Hi ! Since you live in Toronto, there are a lots of player and expert gun doc over as well. My best bet to save you headache, I would say buy KA VLTOR CASV and get a systema revolution mechbox drop in there, that would save you a lots of headache from getting a PTW, get all stuff and put it together. That's just my two cents.

Neither gun is going to be very easy to get these days, especially if you're wanting to purchase new.
If you are not concerned with gaming the gun, either will be fine. The PTW will fit a real VLTOR upper (not easy to get either) with minor modification. It also breaks down in a similar fashion to a real AR. But, if you want the most realistic airsoft AR, you will need to look at a GBB M4 from Inokatsu or WE. And, if you ever want to buy real guns, your time window is very rapidly shrinking. I have kids and many real guns. Within this year, all the nice, cool guns will become unavailable I'm afraid, and never be available again. And the ammunition to use in them will also disappear.

Well, considering that most of the ammo we use comes from the U.S., in fact, all of the ammo I use (.223, .40, and .12ga).
There's lots of 7.62 x 39 out there, but it's corrosive and who knows if the NRC will clamp down again on it. And where the U.S. goes, other countires follow. I had to buy a brick of .223 last week, $600/1K, that's attrocious, but locally I have no choice, and it only gets worse as time goes on. And wait until they bring an AWB again, kiss everything good bye, except Tavor or Imperial Defense. And Canadian retailers are nothing in size compared to some American ones I've been to, and they had virtually nothing when I was down in December. It was shocking to say the least.

AK's are on the proposed ban list for the new AWB, as well as the AR, HK91 and pump shotguns.
Who knows if will actually go through, but considering they have Democratic control of the houses, it's very possible. And the American public is sure scared of it, try buying guns and parts down down there, there's wait times extending into 2010 for some stuff, and ammo is in short supply. But this is a little off-topic for the purposes of which M4 is better. That's my fault though, I'm just an off-topic whore I guess.

Thanks for the input guys. No prob on the off topic; keeps the thread on front page!
One more follow up: If I wasn't able to get my hands on a King Arms, would I be able to get say a TM SOPMOD M4 (the new shoot and recoil) and affix the KA VLTOR VIS or CASV/MUR to it? Would they be compatible? Thanks again guys |

Since those new TM SOPMOD M4 is too new and not many people in Canada got in hand one yet and either a quite review of them on here too so your best bet is if you can get TM SOPMOD M4, so why don't you just get the King Arms right away. I doubt if a retailer can import TM SOPMOD M4 then they can import KA CASV M4 as well.
After market parts CASV would fit on the Tm SOMPOD M4 is the thread front set is the same as regular AEG but sometime maybe TM has a new design on . I'm pretty not sure about that. I won't bother to do something that not pretty sure because might end up losing the money. That's just my two cents. Hope it help you. KND Quote:

Dboys has made a FMU HK416. Once it arrives in the states, you can ask a retailer to get one for you:
http://ebairsoft.com/advanced_search...59c5e&x=12&y=7 As for which M4 you should buy, i would seriously recommend the KA M4 as it is cheaper to purchase and upgrade than a PTW will. And with the new Systema Mechbox, i think it is a wiser choice than the PTW as it can do everything a PTW can, minus the ability to quick change FPS (which IMHO is useless as you can only go up to 400fps at most fields anyway). |
